and it's all ova! Kumble can't do much with that short of a length ball outside off and gets it away to cover for a single. Bangalore have fallen well short today.
Daredevils vs RCB, 20th match at Bengaluru, IPL, Mar 25 2010 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Delhi have arrested the slide finally, after three straight defeats, and they have done it by beating, probably the best team in the fray. There was little doubt over which team was better today though. Warner came out firing on all guns and gave them the momentum to overcome a middle overs wobble and Kedar Jadhav played a blinder in the end to take them home.
Bangalore's chase got off to a good start, though they could not get off to a flier. Amit Mishra and Umesh Yadav bowled really well to stifle the runs and strike crucial blows. Bangalore's running left a lot to be desired.
Venki: "Umesh Yadav seems to be an interesting prospect for developing into a genuine fast bowler. He is consistantly nearing 90 MPH. If he is trained well he can be a future Indian prospect." Well, we've seen India's pace prospects mysteriously losing their pace once they break into the main-stream, so fingers crossed on that one.
Hang on for the presentation.
Kumble: "Credit to Delhi, we did well to restrict them to 180. We had a good start, but a couple of run outs, and some bad shot selection cost us the game. No regrets with our decision at the toss, the wicket was slow.. It was one of those days for us."
Dinesk Karthik: "
Man of the match - On debut, it is Kedar Jadhav "I was pretty confident about my batting, I knew I could do well if I got in. You have to ask our trainer (for my secret ability to hit the ball long!)."
On that happy note, this is Nitin Sundar signing off on behalf of the Cricinfo team. Do log in for the next match, Chennai v Mumbai, the big news is that Dhoni is back. See you all!
McDonald's done in Steyn with a nice straight yorker! Steyn goes for an almighty heave over the leg side, but cannot make contact and the stumps are shattered
shortens the length, outside off, Kohli slaps it down to long off for one
Kohli's not finished! Fulltoss on his pads, he got under it and mowed it over cow corner
gets under the overpitched ball on leg stump and gets it down between long on and deep midwicket. Great placement.
good yorker, full on leg stump, and he can only drive down the ground to long on
Great work from Delhi today in the field. They have stifled Bangalore right through.
yorker outside off, tries to dig it out and cannot make contact
very low fulltoss on leg stump, Steyn drives down the ground for one
fortune favours the Steyn! length ball on middle and leg, Steyn shuffles all over the place and plays a pull that runs down to fine leg off the inside edge
makes room by moving to the leg side and drills it straight to long off
fulltoss on middle and Kohli cashes in. He manages to get it away through midwicket. They need a lot more of that
full on middle and off, played away to the offside
length ball, stays back and plays it through the covers
short and wide outside off, misses Steyn's swat, there was a definite edge to Karthik, but umpire Jerling missed it.
on leg stump this time, and Kallis can't get it away
slips down the leg and Steyn gets something on it down to fine leg
AB de Villiers has taken the catch of the tournament! Short of a length, Praveen played the pull, and very nearly got it over AB at long off who was a few metres in, but he was running back, leapt up in the air and plucked it out of thin air with his right hand, landing a foot inside the ropes!
short of a length on middle, goes for an extravagant pull, but it trickles down to midwicket
full on leg, played away off the backfoot towards square leg
it's that kind of day for Bangalore here! Kohli hit that one straight to midwicket, where Mishra mis-fielded. Bangalore decided to run the second one, Mishra recouped and threw straight to Nannes who removed the bails. Out by miles
