Tossed up from over the wicket, biffs out the low full toss on middle into the covers and Knight Riders win by 7 wickets!
Warriors vs KnightRiders, 23rd Match at Sharjah, ILT20, Feb 05 2024 - Match Result
KnightRiders won by 7 wickets (with 59 balls remaining)
That's it for tonight. Thank you for your company and join us tomorrow for more ILT20 action. For now, it's goodbye from Rvel Zahid and rest of the crew at ESPNcricinfo
Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Sharjah Warriors Captain: We kept losing wickets, it's been a theme for us in the tournament losing wickets in clumps. The top order needs to stand up and take the game deeper, not go off from ball one. We had Livingstone coming in at 3, everyone knows what he can do, if he gets in, he can change the game...still two games left, if win two, we'll probably sneak through. Two must-win games to give us a chance
Andre Russell, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders Captain: Bowlers made it really really easy for me tonight, well-done to them. They bowled perfectly and made new ball dance around. To get into middle order was the plan. Fielding was on point. There is little area of improvement but today we took our chances and they were up for the challenge tonight and that showed up in the result. Openers gave us a brilliant start and the objective was to win before 10 (overs) but we got 10 points and I'm happy about it. I didn't even think of putting my pads on
Joshua Little, Player of the match (picked 3/17): I just try to keep it as simple as possible, got some movement (early on). Spoke about hitting the right area, attacking the crease. I was working on some areas...I fall away as a left-armer, running in hard and working on nice forward momentum. Knight riders are a great franchise; they've been backing me all the way.
A perfect all-round display from the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders as they leapfrog to the second spot in the points table with a massive boost to their Net Run Rate. Elation on one side and dejection on the other. Warriors were just not at the races today and had no answers to the Knight Riders' clinical bowling effort. Plenty for them to think about after getting blown away.
Andre Russell took the captaincy reins from Sunil Narine and led them superbly tonight. It was an authoritative performance from the Knight Riders who were too hot to handle for the Warriors. Tom Kohler-Cadmore-led side seemed disoriented with the bat and gave no chance to their bowlers after folding at 75
Shortish slower ball outside off, gets on top of the bounce, rolls his wrists and pulls it down to midwicket, just one required to win the game
Ouch! Awkward back-of-a-length zone bodyline attack delivery hits him just above his armpit, just could't get out of the way. Warriors have got a potent bowling attack but tonight they got no support from their batters
Yorker tailing in at leg, makes room and digs out to sweeper cover
Moves across his stumps, hurls down a mean bumper outside off, keeps his head down under the bumper
Tries a similar shot, loses his shape and gets an inside-edge to deep fine for a run, was banged in short and got little bit of sideways movement
Over the wicket, scorching thunderbolt on back of a length swerving in at middle and off, tries to pummel him out of the park but is beaten by the pace and late movement
skedaddling down the wicket to manufacture his own length, hits the pads and rolls over to fine leg, they manage to squeeze the third one
Play and a miss as he attempts a cut
Goes back, makes room and then plays a horizontal bat shot into the covers for a run
Full toss outside off, reaches it but can't time it well enough to clear the fielders at cover
Tossed up slower on middle at a fullish length, slinks forward and drives it back to Rashid
Slips out a full toss outside off, spanked down to long-off
Over the wicket, dug in short on leg stump, lifts his arms and avoids contact, Jawadullah gets away with it as it's not called a wide
Short and a little wide, great cut shot, as if someone has sliced potato with a sharp kitchen knife, protection in the deep to cut it off
Snorter exploding off the pitch rising from back of a length on probing off stump line, backs away from the pull
Edged and taken! Jawadullah gives Clarke a fiery send-off! Bouncer screaming away outside off, goes for an upper-cut but ends up nicking it through to the keeper, Jawadullah gets his third. He just keep finding ways to dismiss batters, genuine wicket-taker
Short delivery, down the leg side, whangs it away to deep square's right, he pings a sharp throw at keeper's end
Round the wicket, short of a length outside off, makes room and thwacks a cut to cover-point
Doesn't spin much, length on middle, steps away to the on side and cuts it down to cover
