sweep end the chase, easily finds the boundary at square leg
SRH vs MI, 36th match at Hyderabad, IPL, May 12 2014 - Ball by Ball Commentary
MI won by 7 wickets (with 8 balls remaining)
The way they win some of these matches makes you wonder what are they doing at the bottom of the table. Simmons, after looking uncomfortable, powered the chase in the company of Rayudu, both attacking the Sunrisers spinners and making this one of their easier wins. Only five wickets went down in the day, not sure if that was a fair reflection of the pitch. Anyway, Mumbai keep their chances alive and stay in the race (they are still lagging behind but are not out of it).
"It was a perfect game, most clinical performance put by us," Rohit Sharma says. "This is our capability and we always expect this performance. We bowled well to restrict them and to chase it down like that, it was simply superb. To bowl at Warner and Finch that well is not easy, I must credit all the bowlers. Today was a perfect day, Simmons smacked it right from the beginning and Rayudu kept it solid."
Rayudu is the Man of the Match. He says, "My head was in UAE, my legs were in Hyderabad and my bat was somewhere else. It was all going haywire, so I had to get it all together .. Simmons took a lot of pressure on me, i could go and play all my shots."
Simmons get an award for hitting the most sixes, Moises Henriques gets an award for staying calm.
"We are not used to losing much here," Dhawan says with a smile. "This was a new track here and we were not sure of how it would play. We were probably 20 runs short her. 157 was not bad but they batted well."
"We would have happened for this to happen a lot earlier," says Pollard. "We didn't start the tournament well and even the last game, we lost. The pressure to do well is always there. If you see the trend in IPL, defending champions don't do well barring CSK. We have to win, each and every day we have to dive around, run around and do our best to try and make it for playoff."
Thanks for your comments and feedback. Devashish Fuloria signing off. Ciao ciao.
Sarvan: "Lucky number 68 today ? All the 3 top scores for the day"
they are in no hurry, a single to deep midwicket
Ajit: "Steyn has got to be the most overhyped bowler in IPL. Just tell me how many times he has got the job done in a crunch situation!! In fact, he's the one who gives away easy runs at a crucial point with all his pace!"
flatter delivery on the pads, eased to deep square leg for a single
premediated! He goes down on his knee early and laps it over the keeper's head.. not to the leg side, just over the keeper's head.. straight
Karn Sharma comes in.. last over most likely
vb: "D Hussey for CSK??!! But that doesn't make sense !! He is a good lower middle order batsman and bowls a decent spin, both of which are not needed for CSK at this moment. I thought a bowling all rounder would have been a better fit, no?" ---- The big teams love big names in their bench
more of that! It's a short delivery on the hips and Rohit whips it fine on the the leg side for another one
apologies for saying this - lazy elegance - but that's what it is. Just a defensive push through extra cover and it speeds up after it crosses infield
Amit: "This is one of the easiest jobs left to do for Rohit and Pollard.. Otherwise most of the time they are chasing run rate well above ten an over.. this is sort of unknown territory for both.."
short of length ball, this time he gets to the other end with a nudge to cover point
Abhi: "Can Mumbai Pull a Knight Rider here??"
crazy crazy! Pollard dabs it to cover and takes off, just gets back in time
superb delivery at this stage! Corker really, pitches on a length and flies past the outside edge, bowled it cross-seamed
can't get it away, pushes it straight to point
Steyn comes back. 18 balls, 16 runs.. One slip
alan: ""david hussey in chennai!!!!. an already strong team made even stronger and experienced by his addition. really smart move made by chennai " "
he dabs it to mid-off and shoots off for a quick single
Pollard coming in now.. This is the ninth ball in this over
what reflexes from Henriques! That was short and was flat-batted back to the bowler, who stuck out his hands over his head and caught it in the second attempt.
This is a long long over
quicker delivery, he pounds it on his own half and that sails way over the batsman
slower delivery, very very slow delivery, it's at a snail's pace, slower than a koala, outside off and the batsman misses
fuller delivery on the stumps, eased to midwicket for a single
back of length delivery on pads, the batsman flicks it to deep square leg
another one down the leg side, another wide
no stopping Rayudu! It's a slower delivery outside off and the batsman drags it to wide long on
length ball down the leg side, nothing going right for them here
Saurav Bhattach: "These new generation of Rahuls are really maligning the name...."
short ball to start with, Rohit doesn't feel the need to touch it
Rohit Sharma is the next man
