Mohammad Irfan sparks Karachi Whites collapse

Mohammad Irfan put paid to any thoughts Karachi Whites might have had of sneaking into the finals of the Quaid-e Azam Division Two championship, taking five wickets to help shoot them out for 100 at the National Bank of Pakistan Sports Complex in Karachi. After Karachi Whites had chosen to bat first, the Khan Research Laboratories seamer had both openers caught behind with just 18 on the board, before his new ball partner Yasir Arafat picked up the next two wickets to leave their opponents reeling at 37 for 4. That soon became 63 for 7 before Irfan wrapped up the innings by taking the last three wickets. None of the batsmen managed to get to even 20, with Wajiuddhin's 18 leading the way. KRL's openers then set about erasing the paltry first-innings target, racing to 165 for no loss from 41 overs. At stumps, Saeed Anwar jr was on 75 with his partner Ali Naqvi on 87. KRL currently top the points table with 48, while Karachi Whites are tied for third with 39 but would move into second place with a win.
