An insipid second innings from Western Australia set up a comfortable eight-wicket win for Victoria at the MCG, where the home side was set 56 for victory. Steve Magoffin made a couple of breakthroughs in the chase before Chris Rogers brought up Victoria's fourth win of the campaign with a six.

The Warriors had begun the morning with nine wickets in hand trailing by 43 and it was a setup that gave both sides a chance on the third day. But they lost 9 for 98 as Victoria's fast men proved a handful and the small target was never going to be a problem for the home side.

Dirk Nannes and Clint McKay started the damage before Andrew McDonald ran through the lower order to collect 4 for 38 and snuff out any chance of a Western Australia fightback. David Bandy (40) top scored for the Warriors for the second time in the match and Adam Voges chipped in with 32.

The win has extended Victoria's lead on the competition table, where they are ten points clear of the second-placed Queensland. Western Australia are struggling in fourth position and need a major turnaround in their remaining four games to have a chance of reaching the final.
