Marshall's century sets up Northern Districts win
Northern Districts, Otago and Wellington were the winners in the latest round of State Shield action

Hamish Marshall's 113 got Northern Districts home as they chased 254 against Canterbury in Rangiora. Marshall's 105-ball innings set up the chase and he featured in a 96-run stand with his twin brother James Marshall (51). Shane Bond was expensive with 1 for 72 from ten overs as Northern Districts worked their way closer to the top of the table.
Central Districts hung on to top spot despite suffering a comprehensive eight-wicket defeat at the hands of Otago in Alexandra. The visitors struggled to 188 for 8 with no batsman scoring more than 33, and in reply it took Otago only 38.2 overs to overhaul the total. Craig Cumming top scored with an unbeaten 70.
At the Basin Reserve, BJ Crook's 75 helped Wellington to a four-wicket win with 11 balls remaining despite Daryl Tuffey's 4 for 33. Wellington chased down the 197 set by Auckland, who relied on Anaru Kitchen with 65 in his second game, while Graham Napier picked up 4 for 40.
