tossed up on off and middle, Mushfiqur looks to defend, gets an outside edge past slip, comes back for the second and that's it, Bangladesh go 1-0 in the three-match series
Bangladesh vs West Indies, 1st ODI at Dhaka, WI in BAN, Dec 09 2018 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Bangladesh won by 5 wickets (with 89 balls remaining)
That's all from Saurabh and me for today. We will be back on Tuesday for the second ODI at this very venue. See you then!
Mashrafe Mortaza is the Man of the Match. "We know West Indies are dangerous in this format," he says. "But boys bowled really well. It's not easy to score runs on this wicket. Liton played a nice knock, Shakib got some quick runs, that helped a lot. But I think Mushfiqur was brilliant, very professional. Still a long way to go for this team."
"Hopefully, we can bounce back," says Rovman Powell. "We didn't bat as well as we would have liked. I think the wicket became a little easier to bat later on. The senior guys and support staff is behind me."
Time for the presentation ceremony.
8:05pm A target of 196 achieved in 35.1 overs, a clinical performance with the ball setting up the five-wicket victory. Liton Das made 41 before throwing it away but Shakib Al Hasan made a breezy 30. Mushfiqur Rahim played the anchor's role and stayed unbeaten on 55 to see the side home. West Indies, on the other hand, were more reactive than active. If someone hit a boundary, off the went the slip. If there was an edge, a slip came in. While Thomas, Paul and Chase impressed with the ball, they didn't have enough runs to defend.

amzad: "personally i like the batting of Soumya and Liton, both of them remind me fearless Shahariar Hossain, Ashraful, Aftab and Tamim .All of them are/ were very talented, But except Tamim, none other can give good service to country. BCB should take immediate action to let this two guy know how important they are and how important their service for the team, specially Top 5 player of the team is nearly and above 30 now, they should take responsibility. "
short outside off, Mushfiqur upper-cuts it towards deep backward point
Tasmeem: "Soumya always falls over when playing shots away from his body. When he was on form (which was quite a long time ago), he pushing with his hands seemed to be no problem. Also he always had luck on his side with ball just evading fielders or falling in no man's land. But now that he is off colour, it's making him look like a sitting duck."
