57.3 to Khurram Shahzad, goes straight up, and Shahzad's fun is over! Jansen is on the board, and Pakistan have been bundled out for 211! Dug into the track outside off. Shahzad has an ungainly smear across the line and only gets height. Paterson calls for it early in the mid on region and does the rest. A prompt end to this innings at the start of the third session, and Paterson leads the South African fielders off the field, courtesy his amazing five-for!. 211/10 | ||||||||||

15.4 to Saim Ayub, That was an absolute peach and South Africa have got another wicket in no time. Both openers back in the hut! Good length, came in a fraction and was on an irksome off-stump line, he presses forward with soft hands and gets a faint edge that is safely pouched by the keeper. Pakistan in a spot of bother and need to rebuild. A cracker of a delivery on an impeccable line and length that induced the error. The angle was difficult for Saim to negotiate. 40/2 17.2 to Babar Azam, Pakistan in deep trouble! An indecisive feeble push at the wide delivery, caught up in two minds whether to leave or play, pushes at the wide one and perishes in the process. That's loose from Babar Azam and Pakistan are reeling under the clouds. Superbly caught by Markram at third slip. Decision to bowl first paying rich dividends now. Things have changed dramatically after the first drinks break. Paterson has got his second. 41/3 37.6 to Kamran Ghulam, oh dear - Kamran Ghulam has thrown it away! And the bowling change works a charm. Paterson has three on day one, and Pakistan lose their fifth, through what can only be explained as another rush of blood! Back of a length on middle and leg. Ghulam does not learn from his lesson earlier in the over and goes charging at Paterson. Has an agricultural swipe at it and the ball goes straight up. Rabada comes running in from fine leg, settles under it and gives South Africa finally something to cheer about. A brisk, if a little chancy, counter-attacking knock but now, someone else will have to spearhead Pakistan's batting charge!. 137/5 39.6 to Mohammad Rizwan, Edged and taken! A wobbler in the channel, teasing off-stump line, hurriedly pokes at it and gets a thick edge to Jansen who gobbles it up gleefully down his waist. It was a terrific delivery, beautifully set-up. Played with hard hands. Massive breakthrough!. 142/6 49.6 to Agha Salman, Paterson gets the fifer! That is marvelous bowling, he continues to outsmart batters. Thumped hard into the surface on a teasing off-stump line, Salman tries to pull it away across the line, looking ungainly, caught up in two minds and played a nothing shot in the end. 14.1 to Shan Masood, Wow, what a fabulous start for Bosch - gets wicket on the first delivery on his debut, couldn't have asked for a better start playing at his home ground. It was a length delivery meandering away outside off, Shan wanted to stamp his authority and went for an expansive drive, getting a thick outside edge and it's taken By Jansen down his throat in the slip cordon. Shan Masood will be admonishing himself after doing all the hard work and then throwing it away; just wanted to play with more freedom and perished in the process right after the drinks break. 36/1 18.3 to Saud Shakeel, Hits the deck hard and gets it to kick and scream off the surface, a wayward delivery outside leg-stump and he tries to make full use of it, trying to plonk it over fine leg, very close to the glove and South Africa seem convinced he tickled it. It's been sent upstairs. The ultra-edge confirms there is indeed a connection, big spike and Bosch's day continues to get better. It's just not working for Pakistan as their plans backfire. Saud's ebullience only lasted for six deliveries; he came down with a positive intent and the aggressive tactics cost him his wicket. Maybe, it was better to grind and toil a bit given the situation?. 56/4 48.5 to Aamer Jamal, Bosch has the last laugh! Chopped on and Jamal gets carried away! Slightly short and wobbling outside off, he wanted to belt that out of the screws and ends up making a horrible mess of his stumps. Bosch gets his third on debut! Gives him a lingering stare and a fiery stare after getting the wicket. Love the passion, that wicket meant a lot to him. 189/7 50.1 to Naseem Shah, Chipped in the air and pouched by Rabada at mid-on! Circumspectly poking at it and it hits him high on the bat, ruffled by the serious pace, trying to loft it straight over the bowler's head but ended up hanging a simple catch to Rabada who came charging in. It was a fuller delivery and gun-barrel straight. 189/9 | ||||||||||

2.6 to T de Zorzi, cleans him up with an absolute pearler! The dream dismissal for any right-arm fast bowler. Finds the perfect in-between length, where de Zorzi is unsure about coming forward. Starts on off and then curves back in deliciously, cutting de Zorzi in half and knocking back the top of middle stump. A sumptuous delivery to get things underway for Pakistan!. 7/1 6.4 to RD Rickelton, edged and has that carried?! Looks like it has! Back of a length in the channel. Unlike the last ball, this straightens off the pitch and that squares up Rickelton. He nibbles at it and gets a nick that floats through to Rizwan, who has to dive forward to snare the chance. The umpires want to check if this is a fair catch. Looked good in real time, and looks very good on the replay too. Right into Rizwan's gloves, and Pakistan have two in the first seven overs!. 24/2 55.5 to AK Markram, Huge breakthrough! Gobsmacked by the bouncer, cross-seam delivery on middle and leg, got in a tangle and gloved it to Rizwan. Wasn't ready for the short one and got stuck deep but what a terrific knock. Although he would be crestfallen to miss out on a hundred but he scored vital runs for his team. 213/8 | ||||||||||

15.4 to T Stubbs, Produces a jaffa out of nowhere! He didn't know whether to come forward or go back and in that moment of confusion, he sees himself get rapped on the front pad, looks very adjacent, no point going upstairs. Umpire was quick to raise the finger and that wicket will really fire Pakistan up. Expect them to be noisy now. Stubbs resistance melts away after 28 balls; the comeback man gets his first wicket on return. He is so good at this; got to nip back just enough to trap him lbw. 66/3 | ||||||||||

44.6 to DG Bedingham, ohh, taken at first slip! The ball carried nicely to Ghulam there, who had to leap a step to grab it. Naseem gets some extra bounce off a length, with the line being wide outside off. Bedingham went jabbing at it with hard hands, even as the ball seemed to seam away after pitching. He throws away a solid innings, and gives Pakistan an entry. 178/5 48.3 to K Verreynne, Edged and taken! Tad short and going away from fifth stump outside off, goes flailing at it quite far away from his body, a bit loose, and finds a thick edge and it's catching practice for Salman Agha in the slips. He produces a beauty, and the length was the key there. He saw it as an opportunity to score and it rose quite steeply and moved away as well, wasn't in control while playing that. 188/6 50.4 to M Jansen, He is hungry for wickets! Back of a length, angling away from fourth stump, he couldn't resist the temptation, wafting and edging and Mohammad Rizwan does the rest. Another important breakthrough for Pakistan and Naseem has done well after the lunch - the plan is working. 191/7 | ||||||||||

36.4 to T Bavuma, gone! Bavuma runs out of patience, and ends up tickling this behind! After three leaves in this over, he goes jabbing at this ball, and gets a thick outside edge. Jamal persisted with that inviting length, which draws Bavuma forward to have a little drive at this ball. The line is testing - around sixth stump - and some good bounce and away movement does it for Jamal, who breaks a threatening stand for Pakistan. 136/4 62.5 to K Rabada, taken by Babar! He seemed to indicate that the sun was in his eyes, but Pakistan still have a wicket. Jamal bowled it on the shorter side of a length just outside off, and Rabada went hoicking at it across the line, even as his front leg was out of the way. But the slog was mistimed, as the bat seemed to turn in his hands, and the ball ballooned up for Babar to catch it just to the left of the non-striker. 254/9 | ||||||||||

73.4 to D Paterson, the pain finally ends for Pakistan! Shahzad, who takes this skier, signals that the ball seemed to circle up in the air. Paterson did get a few boundaries away in his innings, and was lured by this tossed-up ball too, which dipped on a fullish length outside off. He went launching it down the ground, but ended up skying it way above. Shahzad, placed somewhere towards a deepish mid-off, did well to take this, with the ball dropping over his shoulders. 301/10 | ||||||||||

10.3 to Saim Ayub, On a length and attacks the stumps, ball sneaks past his bat and rattles the stumps. He was trying that for quite a while and got that absolutely spot on! Saim couldn't get behind the line and the ball nipped away ever so slightly to hit the top of off. Absolute zinger from Rabada. 49/1 50.4 to Naseem Shah, Catching practice to slip as Rabada gets his second. Lands it on a length outside off, Naseem hangs his bat out there, eyes off the ball and then thinks of withdrawing it but steers it to Stubbs at third slip. 209/8 | ||||||||||

59.4 to Mohammad Abbas, Edged and taken! That's the end of Pakistan's innings. A stunning catch in the slips by Markram and South Africa openers quickly rush back to the dressing room while remaining South Africa players are high-fiving and Jansen soaks all the applause and has the ball in hand. It was a scorcher thumped on a hard length and nibbled in as well, too good for thee and he tried to get behind the line, excellent line. 237/10 | ||||||||||

49.5 to Aamer Jamal, Another waste of a wicket, against the run of play. Jamal cannot believe he has fallen into a trap and is dragging himself off. Paterson digs it short, cross-seam delivery. Jamal picks it early and nails the pull off the middle. But he finds Rickelton stationed at deep square leg. Paterson points towards Bavuma and runs in celebration, suggesting that it was a plan that came off. Pakistan 118 for 7, effectively. 208/7 | ||||||||||

16.3 to Shan Masood, Hits the deck hard and gets some extra bounce outside off, he is ruffled and just pokes at it and is snaffled by Stubbs at third slip; hangs onto it brilliantly, lunged forward and made sure to keep the fingers underneath. Third umpire checking it it's a clean catch. Jansen got some extra lift, and the variable bounce made it even more tough to negotiate. A feeble push at the delivery means he has to take the long walk back to the pavilion. 70/2 18.5 to Kamran Ghulam, Edged and taken! Jansen hurls it into the pitch around the line off, he pokes at it and edges it to gully who takes a fabulous low catch. The extra bounce always helps him and the ball was nibbling and he gets reward for persistent bowling. Ghulam admonishes himself but big smiles in the field and South Africa are right on top!. 74/3 36.5 to Babar Azam, Gone! Babar stands shellshocked, cannot believe what he has done! It was a short and wide delivery, his eyes lit up, wanted to slash that over deep point and Bosch was stationed perfectly there to pouch it. Once again, Jansen making things happen and gets the prized scalp. Babar will be livid with himself to throw it away like it, that's been the problem, he's just not able to rack up big scores but nevertheless a useful contribution. Was trying to manufacture a difficult shot, not quite his go-to shot. 153/4 40.6 to Mohammad Rizwan, Tame dismissal and Jansen has his fourth. Shortish and angling down leg, Rizwan looks to half-pull it. Perhaps the extra bounce makes him attempt it half-heartedly and he gets a glove. Verreynne completes a diving catch to his left and Masood cannot watch any of this. Covers his face as Rizwan makes the long walk back. Pakistan effectively 82 for 5. 172/5 42.1 to Agha Salman, Jansen completes a five-wicket haul and Pakistan are crumbling fast. A nothing shot really from Salman and South Africa are elated. Jansen continues from around the stumps and bowls it full and wide - almost outside the sixth stump. Salman goes for a wild drive well away from the body, his feet not really going towards the line of the ball. All he manages is a feather. The extra bounce also being a contributor. Pakistan are effectively 86 for 6. 176/6 56.4 to Saud Shakeel, Totally surprised him with a full-toss out of nowhere; that's excellent thinking. Tried something different and it looks stone dead. Saud, hoping against hope, has sent it upstairs, he doesn't look sure and signals he couldn't spot it. Three reds - rattling middle and off - and he has to go. Straightforward decision. Jansen gets his sixth wicket. He has bowled marvelously today but what a terrific knock by Saud who gave his all and fought valiantly for his team.. 236/9 | ||||||||||

4.5 to RD Rickelton, Vociferous appeal for an lbw; jagged back viciously and struck his pads; lots of confusion among Pakistan players; ideas exchanged, opinions taken into consideration by Shan and they end up sending it upstairs. Not even a murmur on an ultra-edge; thumping the pads, pitching outside off, impact in line and hitting wickets. Turned out to be a fabulous review. Massive celebration and Pakistan are over the moon; contrasting emotions on South Africa's coach! 3.3 to T de Zorzi, Trapped him lbw! Change of angle, around the wicket. That looks pretty adjacent, umpire took his time before raising the dreaded finger. Tad shortish and straightened towards middle, he couldn't get behind the line and gets tenderized on the front pad; moved across a touch too. He has taken the review but didn't look very convinced. No bat involved, third ump says 'you can go to ball tracking'. Pitching outside off, impact umpire's call and hitting the wickets so the on-field decision stands and this wicket will surely make Pakistan belief. 11/1 7.5 to T Stubbs, Prolonged appeal for an lbw in unison. After a long meeting, they want to take their chances and have asked for another opinion. Pakistan players seem very excited just after looking that it didn't hit the bat. He landed it on a length just outside off, beating Stubbs, who looked to defend the line, on the outside edge. Pitching outside off, impact in line and hitting middle and Pakistan are ecstatic. Stubbs has to go. What a vital breakthrough; Pakistan are pretty much alive in this contest. Louds scream of celebration, and they will be hunting for more wickets. South Africa under the pump. 19/3 23.3 to AK Markram, Wrecks the stumps! That kept low and rattles the stumps; just when Pakistan were becoming a little deflated, Abbas produces an absolute peach; it was on that troubling length - neither too short, nor too full - tailed in a touch and didn't bounce much. Markram jammed his bat down but couldn't get behind and the off-stump was disturbed. Massive celebration and Abbas is all fired up! Gets reward for disciplined bowling. 62/4 29.4 to T Bavuma, And just like that, out of nowhere, he has a brain fade moment and gets a faint inside-edge to the keeper. Advances, loses his shape and was trying to club that over midwicket, trying to play across the line. I don't fathom that shot. Looked needless, loses his discipline and has to go. It's that man again, Abbas providing another breakthrough, resuming normal service after three years and making it look like he never left. There is NOTHING on the ultra-edge when the ball passes the bat but it did sound woody and Bavuma would have reviewed if he felt he didn't edge it. Everyone looks surprised in South Africa's dressing room. 96/5 31.2 to DG Bedingham, Pakistan are on fire! Abbas picks a fifer. South Africa are in total disarray.
