7.5 to WA Young, Ngidi gets the breakthrough! The slower ball does the trick, rolling out an off-cutter that tempts Young into a full-blooded strike down the ground. The problem, however, is it sticks in the pitch and the ball ends up kissing the clouds before nestling safely in the hands of Markram stood still at mid off. 48/1 46.1 to DJ Mitchell, Wide of the crease, hung outside off stump, heaved across the line... and caught by Rabada at deep midwicket! Good catch with that sun, but the angle of Rabada's run ensures he's not competing with that glare and completes the dismissal with ease. 314/5 49.5 to MG Bracewell, Hammered through the cover... oh my days he's caught it! The camera could barely keep up with that strike from Bracewell, but he's found the hands of Rickelton at cover, who is shaking his hands at the ferocity of the strike. Brilliantly held. 360/6

33.3 to R Ravindra, Edged and gone! Across Ravindra, pace off at 123.5kph, and an attempt to carve this over cover produces a thick outside edge, taken by Klaasen shuffling to his left. A gorgeous innings comes to an end, but New Zealand are in a strong position with plenty of explosiveness to come.... 212/2 41.1 to TWM Latham, Bowled him! Latham gets one straight at his stumps and attempts to help the ball over the keeper, but ends up missing it completely and watches his middle and off stump get rocked. 257/4

39.5 to KS Williamson, Gone! The ramp may have brought up Williamson's hundred, but it brings about his downfall four balls later! Just too wide and full this time, ends up chipping tamely to short fine leg. Glenn Phillips time?. 251/3

4.5 to RD Rickelton, Held in the wicket, popped straight to cover. Rickelton was looking so good but falls early. 135ks length ball on fifth from Henry, looked innocuous and the batter was in a good position to punch it off the front foot. But the ball was released with a slight wobble, it landed on the seam and went off the outer-half of the bat, travelled 23 metres for Bracewell to take a low catch in front. Rickelton shakes his head while walking back; the fielders beam with smiles as they run about for hugs and cheers. 20/1 45.3 to K Rabada, Slower ball has been pulled to the cow-corner boundary. Glenn Phillips was there, so that dolly was destined to be taken. Was a 119ks short ball just outside off that Rabad struck hard, got it just under the sticker. 256/9

35.6 to PWA Mulder, Bracewell flights it... and picks up a wicket in the last ball of his spell. Stock ball on a length, at 88ks it was a touch on the slower side. Looked more like overspin than sidespin - seam was pointing towards leg slip. Mulder got on one knee and swiped hard but it seemed to have hit slightly higher than he sweet spot. Straight to Ravindra's breadbasket. Bracewell and Co all smiles, SA crumbling. 200/6

22.2 to T Bavuma, There goes Bavuma! Santner with good flight, Bavuma charges and is undone by the late dip, going through with a very loose attempt to go over cover that finds Williamson at backward point. 125/2 26.5 to HE van der Dussen, What a ball! A darting Jaffa from Santner! Close to 90kph, angling into middle and leg, clipping middle! Rassie was aiming to find something through the leg side, and had angled the bat accordingly, which meant he had nothing by way of insurance when the ball straightened. Impressive to get it to do as much as it did considering the angle out of the hand. Hell of a nut.... 161/3 28.4 to H Klaasen, Klaasen goes! Length delivery sits up, but not all that much, and Klaasen heaves down the ground... but it's not going for six, it's going into the hands of Henry, who puts in a dive at the end of his sprint and manages to hold on despite taking a heavy blow on his right shoulder. Henry looks in some discomfort, which is its own worry. But in the immediacy, the dangerman has gone and New Zealand are that little bit closer to the final.... 167/4

32.6 to AK Markram, Short again... and bunted back to the bowler! What a tame, tame dismissal from Markram, who gifts a return catch to Ravindra. Markram can't believe it, but it's a horrible dismissal and a huge bonus for New Zealand to get a breakthrough from one of their fill-in spinners.... 189/5

37.6 to M Jansen, Good shout for lbw. I thought so but it was a subdued appeal and wasn't given... Oh, Santner does review. Was a length ball that landed outside off and spun in to hit Jansen just under the knee-roll. On the left edge of the pad. His front foot had moved to fourth stump for the reverse sweep, that he missed completely. Beaten on the underedge. Haek-Eye shows it was a shortish ball on fourth stump, impact is on middle and off, and it's hitting leg!. 212/7 39.3 to KA Maharaj, Great take from Latham down leg! Maharaj walks. That went off the sticker of the bat, ball might've travelled two feet, maybe fewer, between bat and glove. But Latham had crawled horizontally to get behind the line of the ball. The footwork allowed him to get his gloves right in front and take it around top-of-pad height. Was a 92ks shortish ball down leg that Maharaj wanted to pull fine. It was too close to the bat as it turned out. Routine celebrations from NZ. 218/8 |
