A powerful left-handed opening batter and wicketkeeper, Lhuan-dre Pretorius was a star of South Africa's elite school system and quickly became part of the professional structures. Pretorius spent most of his high-school at St Stithians, a production house for professional sportspeople, but moved to Pretoria's Cornwall Hill in his final year. By then, he was already a South African Under-19 player. He was South Africa's leading run-scorer at the 2023 age-group World Cup and debuted for the Titans later that summer. He was the sixth-highest run-scorer at the CSA T20 Knockout Challenge in the 2023-24 season. He made his T20 franchise debut for Paarl Royals the next summer in January 2025 and scored a career-best 97 on debut.
