Sharafuddin Ashraf is a left-arm spinner with a knack for taking vital top-order wickets. He was part of the Afghanistan under-19 side that beat Australia and Sri Lanka at the 2014 Youth World Cup, and was rewarded with a place in the squad to tour Zimbabwe later that year.

He responded in eye-catching fashion, his 6 for 29 dismantling Zimbabwe A in a limited-overs match. A full ODI debut against Zimbabwe followed, Sharafuddin performing admirably as Afghanistan drew their series 2-2. He'd also picked up a maiden first class five-for before the tour was up, and though he continued to travel with the squad he couldn't quite squeeze into the final XV for the 2015 World Cup.
