44.1 to UT Khawaja, and he strikes first ball! You may have expected that, because, well, Bumrah, but you may not have expected it to happen in quite this manner. Khawaja has had a few dicey moments with his pull today, often from going hard at balls that aren't quite short enough. This one's not quite that. It's angling into his body, at about waist height, and maybe he's into the shot too early, and ends up popping it straight to Rahul at midwicket. Off the toe end. 154/2 66.3 to TM Head, bowled him, Head is out shouldering arms!!!!!!! All those exclamation marks because it's not only an early dismissal in a series he's dominated, but also an entirely uncharacteristic one. Perfect length to hit the top of off, perfect line to induce the leave, and wicked inward seam movement with a ball that's into its 67th over. May have left it expecting it to bounce over? Misjudgment of length maybe? Or of line, because it was that tight, in-between, confounding line too? Terrific delivery. 240/4 68.6 to MR Marsh, got him, Bumrah has ripped through Australia's middle order in a hurry! What a spell this is. But again, Australia lose a wicket to an aggressive shot. It's not quite a straightforward pull ball, because it's not quite genuinely short, and he's dragging it from outside off, and I think the ball may have stopped a little, because he's through the shot early and ends up edging it behind off the outside edge, very near the toe end. Kind of similar to the Khawaja dismissal in that sense. Which suggests this is a spongy-bounce kind of surface. 246/5 122.4 to NM Lyon, appeal for lbw and given...Lyon walks, but also reviews! Short of a length, nipped back, might have kept low as well. Height could be an issue...will everyone have to come back to the middle? No, umpire's call on clipping the bails. 82.1 to AT Carey, and he strikes first ball with an absolute beauty. Hits a length hard in the corridor, and he gets it to bounce disconcertingly and also leave Carey. The line is so close to off stump that Carey can't pull his bat away quickly enough, and the ball kisses his edge through to Pant. Gets his first wicket with the 31st false shot he's induced today. Hasn't had to wait as long as he did in the first innings at the Gabba, where it took him until his 53rd.. 299/6 114.1 to SPD Smith, dragged on in extraordinary fashion! What a way to go. Smith charged down the pitch, aimed through the off side, rebounds off his pads and trickles into leg stump to dislodge the bail as Smith watches helplessly. 455/9 | ||||||||||

19.2 to SJ Konstas, gottim, Jadeja gets a crucial, crucial breakthrough, and you could say it was coming, because he had a big lbw appeal turned down in his previous over too. This time Konstas is on the front foot, looking to defend, and Jadeja gets him in trademark Jadeja manner, turning it less than he expects, sliding it past his inside edge, and smacking his front pad. Gough has no hesitation in raising his finger this time, and Hawkeye shows it hitting leg stump. No review from Konstas. What an innings this has been. What a selection too. Australia took a chance, Konstas took a lot of chances. It may not have come off on another day, but on this day it could be game-changing. 89/1 104.1 to PJ Cummins, Australia were beginning to press hard on the accelerator, and in that effort they lose their first wicket of the day. This is quite full from Jadeja, outside off, but not quite full enough to hit safely over the top. Was looking to go straight or over mid-on, probably, but he's not quite right to the pitch, and ends up slicing it over the covers, where Nitish Kumar Reddy completes an excellent running, sliding catch moving swiftly to his left. 411/7 113.3 to MA Starc, through him! Round the wicket, slides on across the face and cannons into off stump as Starc plays the wrong line. 455/8 | ||||||||||

Spooned to mid-on Short of a length, Rohit looking to sort of pull it into the on side, goes high in the air off a leading edge and it's simple catch. 8/1 14.6 to KL Rahul, bowled him, Cummins has bowled an absolute dream ball! And he's worked on Rahul over many overs by planting the doubt of lbw in his mind. This is angling in, hitting a good length, pitching middle and off and seaming away to take the top of off stump. I think it would have got anyone out at any time anyway, but I think all the balls he bowled targeting lbw kind of added up so Rahul's front pad was slightly more leg-side of the ball than it otherwise might have been. 51/2 113.3 to JJ Bumrah, edged, taken at first slip! 42.1 to V Kohli, wow. What a passage of play. Kohli's looked so good all this while, and suddenly, out comes the fatal push at a length ball outside off. Point had been moved to the boundary, and he may have been looking for the single there. Good length, a bit of extra bounce, and Kohli presses forward and feels for it, well away from his body, gets a thin edge through to Carey. 154/4 44.3 to Akash Deep, got him, this is excellent from Boland, he knows exactly how to get the most out of his home pitch. Bangs in a short ball, angles it into Akash's hip, and he fends awkwardly and inside edges into his thigh pad, from where it bounces loopily towards leg gully, where Lyon takes a lovely catch diving forward. 159/5 55.4 to RR Pant, taken at deep third! Extraordinary dismissal. Boland came round the wicket, it's full outside off, Pant goes across and attempts to scoop to fine leg. Gets a huge leading edge and Lyon snaffles it. 64.5 to RA Jadeja, given! That's an outstanding bit of bowling from Lyon, does Jadeja for length with the skidder. Bowls this with a bit of undercut, I think, and Jadeja goes on the back foot as it skids on towards off stump. The length was perhaps not short enough for him to go safely back. Ended up having to hurriedly work around his pads to try and meet the ball and send it into the leg side, but it's through him before he can bring his bat down, and it smacks him on the back pad, right in front of off stump. Was going on to hit off and middle according to ball-tracking, after Jadeja uses up a review. 221/7 111.6 to Washington Sundar, edged, taken at slip! Lyon makes the breakthrough. That jumped from a length, takes the shoulder of the bat as Washington pushes outside off and Smith takes it comfortably. How Australia have toiled for that. Ends a terrific partnership. 348/8 119.3 to K Nitish Kumar Reddy, taken at long-off! Well, it's all over quite quickly after that controversy. The drama continues. Round the wicket, back of a length, Carey looking to force off the back foot, the ball goes past the inside edge, clips the pads into the stumps. 91/6 83.4 to NM Lyon, cleaned him up! Throws everything at a drive without any footwork, reaching way outside off, thin edge to Pant. Siraj celebrates. 80/3 55.1 to M Labuschagne, given lbw! Labuschagne reviews straightaway. 26.1 to V Kohli, gone, that's not going to be pleasant watching for Kohli when he gets back to the dressing room. How many times have you seen this dismissal. This time it's off the left-arm quick. Slants it full, away from off stump, inviting the cover drive, and Kohli goes hard and edges to first slip. This wasn't hugely wide of off stump, to be fair to Kohli, and I think the execution undid him more than the intent. He was leaning back as he hit this rather than into the ball, and that created the angled bat and distance between bat and body. 33/3 | ||||||||||

16.1 to RG Sharma, got him, Cummins gets Rohit once more!!! You see why trying to chase this might be really difficult, because the first attempt at a really aggressive shot sends back India's captain. He was looking pretty solid up to this point, but he'll walk back with another low score against his name. Difficult times. Full, angling in towards off stump, and he looks to play that angle and whip it away through midwicket. Swings away late, grabs the outside edge, and it flies to gully where Marsh takes a good catch around his right shoulder. I've watched it again, and the shot looks even worse, because the line is further outside off than I'd initially assumed. 25/1 16.6 to KL Rahul, gone, two in one over, Pat Cummins is having an incredible Test match! Such a good ball, and there isn't much Rahul could have done about this. Scrambled-seam ball in the corridor, gets it to bounce a little, gets a hint of away movement, and the line is what forces Rahul, who's such a good leaver, into having an uncertain push at the ball. Edged into first slip's lap. On second glance, it looks like Rahul may have been trying to pull his bat away from the line as he often does, but couldn't pull all of it away on time. 25/2 70.5 to YBK Jaiswal, oh my, is that a bit of bat or glove? Joel Wilson doesn't think so, but Australia do. They've reviewed. Short, down the leg side, swivels round to pull but either doesn't hit it or gets a tickle of something down to Carey... It looks close... Yeah, there seems to be a deflection too. Seems to glance off the bat sticker... Waiting for Ultra Edge now. Wow. Nothing. Incredible. Will the third umpire rule based on the deflection? Is that enough to overturn the on-field decision without anything on Ultra Edge? It's one of those glancing blows if it's hit the bat at all... And it's been overturned! Jaiswal has to go, with the third umpire deciding the deflection is enough evidence. Big moment, and I think it's fair enough, because the deflection was pretty clear from the front-on angle. Either the sticker of the bat or the glove, or both. 140/7 | ||||||||||

This jumped outside off, climbed at Jadeja who fenced away from his body and it took the shoulder of the bat. 127/5 76.1 to Akash Deep, length ball angling into leg stump, tries to flick, and it pops straight to short leg. Australia think he's gone, but Joel Wilson says not out. Australia review. Went off the flap of the pad. Did it take a bit of inside edge on the way? There's a little bit of a deflection again, and again Ultra Edge doesn't seem to pick it up. Picks up the noise off the pad. And Wilson reverses his decision again. I'll need to watch the Ultra Edge again, because I may have missed if it showed a deflection off the edge. 150/8 78.3 to JJ Bumrah, edged, and did that carry to first slip? Steven Smith thinks so, and if he's caught it it's a superlative slip catch. Length ball in the corridor, and I think it's very late away reverse rather than seam. Presses forward to defend, and the thick edge goes low towards first slip, and yeah, Smith dives forward, gets his hands well out in front of him, and catches it clean as a whistle. Classic offbreak pitching outside off, and Siraj goes forward and across to defend, then pulls his front leg back, and the ball spins past his bat and hits pad. Looks like it's hit him in line too. It went under his bat, which suggests it may have kept a bit low as well. Siraj has reviewed, but surely it's more in hope than belief.
