6.4 to LM Reece, Reece attempts to leave, kisses the back pad - and up goes the finger! Was just outside the line, but no shot played, and Ian Blackwell doesn't take too long to think about it. Harmer amongst 'em already. 10/1 16.5 to JL du Plooy, flight and bite, du Plooy prods forward... and sends a low edge to Lawrence stood at gully! Harmer bags another, luring the left-hander out and prolonging his run of bad form. Eagles circling like vultures in the gloaming. 27/3 34.4 to AL Hughes, Hughes attempts to come down now, Harmer ghosts one past the outside edge... and although Wheater takes a while to gather and whip off the bails, Hughes can't get back. After a bit of a wait, Essex get their first of the day. 71/4 46.5 to WL Madsen, gottim, snared at leg slip! Madsen slumps on to his bat handle, he'd been busy against Harmer but that hasn't prevented the offspinner breaking through. Tossed up high once again, gripping as Madsen hung back and flicked across the line, and Lawrence scoops it up. 103/5 48.5 to MJJ Critchley, tossed up and slapped straight back to the bowler! Harmer has five, and Critchley has rather gifted him that! He swipes his bat in frustration... poor shot, even without accounting for the fact rain is due to sweep in again soon. 109/6 50.6 to HR Hosein, snapped up at short leg! Straight off the face of the bat, but ten Doeschate scoops it above the turf! Six for Harmer and that Derbyshire wobble has well and truly materialised. 127/7 52.3 to BD Guest, Guest props forward, deflects up off the front pad, ten Doeschate grabs it - given! He's gone one short of his half-century, though doesn't look too pleased with the decision. Must have been close to flicking the glove on its way up... and it was good enough for Ian Blackwell. Seven for Harmer now. 128/8 54.3 to B Stanlake, bowled 'im! Eight for Harmer, Derbyshire floundering... Stanlake aiming to force a cut off the back foot, but misses it completely, hits the top of middle. 128/9 56.5 to DR Melton, smashed back to the bowler, Harmer grabs it and throws the ball away! Nine wickets for Harmer, and that's a career-best! Melton punches himself out and Derbyshire have collapsed in a heap here, losing seven wickets in a session. 146/10 | ||||||||||

He flips his bat in disgust as he traipses off...
