nicely tossed up, he looks to fetch the slog from outside off, only manages to get the toe end that lobs high in the air towards long on where Umesh Yadav makes no mistake.
Indians vs WA XI, Tour Match at Perth, Jan 09 2016 - Match Result
That's all we've got for you today from Perth. Do join us for the series opener from the same venue on January 12. Until then, it's goodbye from all of us here at the commentary desk. Cheers
Another walk in the park for the Indians. They may have felt a little short-changed with their batting effort, but with the ball and on the field, they have been quite efficient. A couple of catches went down and they bowled a few extras, but largely achieved what they set out to do before the game. Barinder Sran, Rishi Dhawan got a good work out with the new ball, Ashwin-Axar-Jadeja were brilliant in the middle, while Umesh was pacy and generated good bounce. With the bat, Rohit Sharma was the top scorer while Manish Pandey made a vital contribution in the middle. Wonder if that means he pips Gurkeerat for a middle order slot come Tuesday. Only time will tell.
WA XI would feel disappointed with their batting effort, but the experience of facing an international attack should help them going forward. Carder looked solid while he was there, while Morgan chipped in nicely towards the end, but couldn't go for the big hits as wickets kept tumbling at the other end. In terms of a result, this has been one-way traffic all the way, but there were a few moments of cheer for the hosts. James Murihead, who was part of the Australia squad for the World T20 in 2014, gave a good account of himself, as did the other bowlers, who managed to tie down some accomplished Indian batsmen.
short ball on middle and leg, pulled into the vacant spaces at deep midwicket
Gurkeerat to bowl the final over
play and a miss, the quicker one outside off again
fires it full and wide outside off, perhaps thought the batsman would give him the charge
thumped back down the ground, Axar threw himself himself to his left and pulls off the stunner. Went with one hand and caught it cleanly. Made it look so easy
looks to turn it away, pops to the on side
tries to swing over midwicket, misses, beaten in the air
worked away down towards fine leg
fired into middle from round the stumps, hit back to the bowler
looked to to over cover, only manage to get the toe-end as Rohit takes the simplest of catches at cover. Generated no power whatsoever behind the stroke. Second wicket for Rishi Dhawan
another play and a miss, well wide of the batsman though
Ishant Sharma hasn't bowled today because he has had a cut on his index finger. No serious injury
swing and a miss. Threw the kitchen sink at it, made no connection whatsoever, flew through to Dhoni
stops on him, this one was in the air briefly, lobs short of point
slower delivery this time, this one keeps low, he plays and misses, bounces through to Dhoni
excellent short ball, he wanted to duck but the ball didn't bounce as high as he expected, took his eye off it and was hit on the side of the helmet. Physio is out to attend to him.
flat-batted pull towards deep midwicket, a well-deserved fifty, measured knock this, should give him plenty of confidence
worked with the angle to mid-on
played back to the bowler
plays across the line, hit high on the pad
driven with the spin to Rohit at cover
