There it is, Mumbai Indians have won two-in-two and it's again David and Green at the crease. This was a much easier job for the pair, though. It's full around off and he clips it out to long-on.
KKR vs MI, 22nd Match at Mumbai, IPL, Apr 16 2023 - Match Result
MI won by 5 wickets (with 14 balls remaining)
7.50pm That's all the action from the Wankhede today, but that's not all the cricket from today. Gujarat Titans are taking on Rajasthan Royals in a replay of last year's final. This is Abhimanyu, signing off on behalf of Sreshth, Thilak and everyone else here at ESPNcricinfo.
Venkatesh Iyer is the POTM, for his 51-ball 104: "Would have been happier if we would have finished on the winning note but nonetheless, pleased with my effort. That's the role given to me by the management and it's my job to repay them. Obviously it was a very beautiful wicket to bat on. Once you score those 30-40 runs, it gets easy to score. Really happy to get a hundred. Their new ball bowlers are both swing bowlers and once you allow them to settle down, it gets difficult. So I just didn't want to let them settle. Once the swing goes away, it gets easier to play them. Once you're out there doing something for the team, you forget all the pain. The wicket was really nice and I was enjoying myself out there. In hindsight I think we did score 15-20 runs less, and the way MI were going, they could have scored it in another over but yeah, we were a little short."
Mumbai Indians captain on the day, Suryakumar Yadav comes out to speak: "We had a chat in the dugout that we had to carry the momentum from the last game and the boys put on a show. I would have loved to finish the game but nevertheless, I was very happy with the way the team played. In the afternoon we thought the wicket was a little dry, but the way the guys batted it settled down in the evening. At the Wankhede in day games, 160-170 is a good score but Kishan got us off to a great start. I took my time in the first five-seven balls and thought if I could get my eye in I could get a score. We know that if the top order gives a good start, what kind of firepower we have lower down the order. It was a legendary spell [Piyush Chawla]. He put his hand up under pressure."
7.40pm It's time for the presentation ceremony
Sumeet: "On a complete tangent.. ZAK even today looks so fit and does not look a day older than the 2011 World Cup winning ZAK! "
7.30pm The Mumbai Indians side take a lap of the stadium, which is all blue right now. There are loud cheers all around. Sachin Tendulkar ended his career with a lap of honour and Arjun Tendulkar begins his with one, notes Hemant Brar!
Nitish Rana: "I think we were 15-20 runs short. Credit to PC bhai (Piyush Chawla) for the way he bowled. I feel quite bad for Venky. You play so well, score a century in a day game in Mumbai and you end up on the losing side. I feel bad for him. If our best bowlers are going for runs, there's not much to say. The way Ishan played against Narine. I think we could have bowled better in the powerplay. I definitely want my bowling unit to deliver more. One or two matches is fine, but it's been five games now. People can have off days, but on back-to-back games, it hurts as an unit. But we will talk about it and hopefully we can bounce back."
7.21pm Mumbai Indians have bounced back in style with two wins in two games. Venkatesh Iyer's belligerent century seems a long while back now. He never got the support he needed from his team-mates today and Mumbai Indians have chased down the target in style. Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma pretty much killed the game in the powerplay and Suryakumar Yadav returning to form is an added bonus for them.
Scores are level. It's a length ball on leg and he punches it back past the bowler to long-on for a single
Ferguson goes around the wicket
Diwakar: "Once upon a time Rana and SKY played for opposite teams and then in one of the auctions they got into other team and in today's match they are the captain of that team"
Cam Green comes out to bat with two runs needed
Digs it in back of a length on leg. It was going across and Wadhera tried to steer it. KKR have reviewed this. And they have reviewed it smartly! UltraEdge confirms that he got bat on it and Wadhera has to go
On a length on off, going across him and he runs it straight of deep third and gets a boundary! Deftly played by Wadhera, using the pace of Ferguson
Just six needed from the last three. Can MI finish it off in this over? Here's Lockie Ferguson
Full outside off, he runs it to deep third for a single
Full and wide, he cuts it away to deep backward point
On a length outside off, pace off, and Wadhere waits on it and cuts it out to deep backward point
Bangs it in short on leg, Wadhera sways out of the way as it goes across him. It's called wide for height
Nehal Wadhera comes out at No. 6
Looks for the ramp but edges behind. Back of a length outside off and he looked to play it over the keeper. Gets a thin edge and it's a simple take for Gurbaz. But this has been a fine, fine knock from a batter in need for some runs and he has scored those runs at a rapid pace too
Full on off, he moves across and flicks it to deep midwicket
Carved away through point. It's full and wide from Shardul and David gets his bat down and gets it in the gap
Timeout taken
Quicker and flatter on off, David drives to cover for a quick single
Back of a length outside off, he hangs back and drives to sweeper cover
Finds the gap! Full on leg and Surya skips out and whips it away, bisecting deep midwicket and long-on
Big appeal as Surya misses a flick and is struck in front. Umpire says no and Nitish Rana reviews it. This was on a length on off and spinning in. UltraEdge shows there was no bat. But ball tracking shows the ball was just going over the stumps! SKY survives
On a length outside off, David goes back and punches it out to long-off's left
On a length just outside off, Surya goes back and whips it away to deep midwicket
Narine now
Floated up on off, David looks to paddle it but misses and is hit on the front pad. Mild appeals, but the umpire wasn't interested
Around the wicket now
Bludgeoned over midwicket! This is full on fifth stump and he gets down and slogs it away for the second six of the over. This one travelled 95 metres
Short and wide and he cuts it away hard through point. Deep cover runs across to stop it from reaching the boundary rope
