Scorecard summary
Colombo Stars 145/6(20 overs)
Dambulla Giants 146/4(18.5 overs)

That's it from us folks. Madushka Balasuriya will have the Jaffna Kings v Galle Gladiators qualifier for you. Hop over to that page.

Dickwella, winning (stand-in) captain: In Colombo the wickets weren't easy, and the major part was played by the bowlers. Here, our bowlers did a great job.

Mathews: I thought we were around 20 runs short, and I thought we were pathetic on the field, to be honest. From picking the players last moment and to come this far, I'm proud of the boys. A few of the boys had a tremendous series. All the best to the remaining teams.

Player of the match is Liyanage: "It wasn't spinning much, so I thought if I stay in the wicket - we have power-hitters to come - we could win the game. The wickets here are really good to bat. It suits the fast bowlers as well."

Giants now progress to that second qualifier on Tuesday. They'll play the loser of the Galle Gladiators v Jaffna Kings game, later today.

Stars are now knocked out, and they only have themselves to blame really. They had so many outstanding innings from Dinesh Chandimal this tournament, but messed up their batting order, and Chandimal - the tournament's highest scorer before this match - got to face with only eight balls remaining in the innings. Beyond that, they also used their seam resources poorly, reserving too many overs for the end, when the game was already in Giants' hands.

Wonderful effort from Liyanage. And easily the best innings of the game. Played within himself and paced the chase beautifully. Excellent hands from Salt, who gave the innings its impetus, and from Zadran as well.

Karim Janat to Liyanage, FOUR runs

that's it! Liyanage has played a gem here and is rightly the fella to finish it. This is short and wide, and Liyanage stayed in his crease and carved it over backward point for a one-bounce four.

Karim Janat to C Karunaratne, FOUR runs

full on the stumps, It's a low full toss, actually. But Karunaratne has timed that so well it's a boundary. Just whips that between long on and deep midwicket, and the long on fielder can't get across to cut it off

18.2
2
Karim Janat to C Karunaratne, 2 runs

slower ball, wide of off, Karunaratne drags it wide of deep midwicket, and Karunaratne calls for two. They get it easy

Karim Janat to Liyanage, 1 leg bye

bowled into the body, hits the thigh pad and dribbles towards the keeper and they scamper a leg bye

Karim Janat to bowl the penultimate.

Naveen-ul-Haq to C Karunaratne, 2 runs

almost in the blockhole, driven down the ground, they try to take two, but Stars have a run out chance. I don't know why Karunaratne insisted on the second. But, wow, the ball has been dropped by the fielder before the stumps were broken. So it's not out. A shambles all around. That should have been a straightforward run out.

1
Naveen-ul-Haq to Liyanage, 1 run

slower one again, length wide of the stumps, bashed to the mid off fielder who takes it on the bounce. They take a single.

17.4

Naveen-ul-Haq to C Karunaratne, 1 run

fullish ball angled into off stump, driven to long on

17.3
1
Naveen-ul-Haq to Liyanage, 1 run

slower one, length ball wide of off. Liyanage slaps this to the cover sweeper

17.2
W
Naveen-ul-Haq to Zadran, OUT

length on the stumps, Zadran tries to launch that over the straight boundary, but he's holed out! He's mis-hit that terribly. It's a slower one from Naveen, who learned from that last Karim Janat over. It takes the top edge, goes high, and Chandimal takes it about half a metre inside the rope.

Karim Janat to Zadran, no run

five dots in a row! How often do you see that in a 17th over of a T20? This is a short delivery angled into the stumps again, and a slower ball. Once more, Zadran doesn't pick it up and is through his shot too early

16.5
Karim Janat to Zadran, no run

borderline wide, but Janat gets away with it. Wide yorker, just outside the tram lines. Zadran can't connect.

16.4
Karim Janat to Zadran, no run

three dots in a row. This is 122kph, dug into the pitch again, angled into the body. Once more, Zadran is through the shot early, and it hits him in the ribs

16.3
Karim Janat to Zadran, no run

digs this in short outside off stump, another slower one I think. Najibullah can't get bat to it.

16.2
Karim Janat to Zadran, no run

slower one, length ball outside off. Zadran doesn't pick it and swipes at it, but misses

Karim Janat to Zadran, SIX runs

Length outside off, and that is launched! He stays back, uses the length and pumps this hiiiigh over long off for six. Giants looking to close this out now.

Tinura: "I am supporting Stars here, but "Take a bow, Janith!"" It's been a pretty impressive innings. Perfectly paced.

Karim Janat is into the attack again.

SG Ram: "Bad luck for Colombo stars, Last year also they went off with the play offs and this year also"

15.4
Chameera to Zadran, no run

another short one, across the chest. Zadran swipes at it but misses. They appeal for a caught behind, but perhaps this is merely out of desperation. That's nowhere near bat or glove.
