0.3 to DJ Mitchell, bowled him, that's Bhuvneshwar at his absolute best! Perfect inswinger, on a length, and Mitchell, hanging on the back foot - not moving his feet at all, actually - and looking to punch down the ground, leaves a fatal gap between his bat and those frozen pads. 1/1 18.2 to TL Seifert, outside off, slower ball again, back of a length and hacked wildly into the floodlights, it plops to point and another one bites the dust. 153/5
4 | 0 | 42 | 1 | 10.50 | 8 | 4 | 2 | 0 | 0 | |
17.2 to MJ Guptill, another slap, but Guptill doesn't connect properly this time! Chahar goes for the blockhole ball again, brave or foolhardy? It seems the former, as the ball loops off the toe, out to deep midwicket, for Siyer to cling on inside the rope. A check for a back-foot no-ball, but no issues there. 150/4
4 | 0 | 39 | 1 | 9.75 | 6 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 0 | |
19.5 to R Ravindra, bowled him! What a stunning over this is proving to be. Wicket-to-wicket, leg-stump line, zipping off a full length, past a flaccid pull, into the stumps. New Zealand have run aground in the final three. 162/6
4 | 0 | 23 | 2 | 5.75 | 10 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
13.2 to MS Chapman, a honk across the line and Chapman is done! Tossed up, beaten in flight, done off the pitch, back goes the off stump, with a hint of turn from round the wicket. A fine knock, but undone just as he was getting busy. 110/2 13.5 to GD Phillips, pinned on the pad and given out lbw! Phillips reviews, but there's no bat involved... yep, no salvation there, pitching on umpires' call outside off, shaping back in to thump off stump itself. An ungainly duck is done. 110/3

18.6 to SS Iyer, crashed through the line but straight at mid-off! Ballsy over from Southee, holds his line and length, demands that Iyer hits him off it, and he can't oblige, scuffing a mistimed thrash down the ground straight at the fielder. It's a dot ball too, almost as importantly. 155/4
4 | 0 | 31 | 2 | 7.75 | 13 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 0 | |
13.2 to RG Sharma, slower bouncer, the man at short backward square was lurking for that very ball, as Rohit rolls his wrists, but fails to pick the lack of pace. He was obliged to wait, and wait, and wait, and eventually could do nothing but steer a looping chance to Ravindra. Cunning from New Zealand's old stager. But they need a few more of those. 109/2 16.4 to SA Yadav, Full length, Sky steps across his stumps for the sweep, and gets his stumps splattered as a consequence! Over-ambitious in search of an elusive boundary in this over. But it's a job well done as he salutes the crowd.. 144/3

5.1 to KL Rahul, and he strikes first ball! One of his two deep fielders is deep square leg, and Rahul picks him out with a pull. I think this was the effect of this shortish ball skidding through with the angle and keeping slightly low, maybe. Rahul was swivelling through the pull early, and he didn't quite end up having the room he needed, ended up hitting it squarer than he intended. Probably. 50/1

19.2 to VR Iyer, reverse-sweep, and it's hero to zero for Iyer! Scuffed the shot, from outside off, a looping chance to short backward point. And the noise in the stadium is sucked out!. 160/5 |
