Slightly short and outside off, hits it leisurely through cover and the ball has enough legs to reach the fence as Karachi Kings seal the game rather comfortably in the end
Zalmi vs Kings, 6th Match at Lahore, PSL, Feb 21 2024 - Match Result
Kings won by 7 wickets (with 19 balls remaining)
That ends our coverage from Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore but there's more action coming up. We've got another mouthwatering contest for you tonight between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars. We hope you'll tune in for that game. For now, this is Rvel Zahid signing off
Kieron Pollard's belligerent onslaught put the game to bed and that glimmer of hope to sneak back into the game after that timeout faded as Pollard hit Waqar Salamkheil for 27 in the 15th over! The game was done and dusted there. Solid contributions from everyone, Akhlaq raced to 24, Vince remained unbeaten on 38, Malik made a run-a-ball 29, and then it was the Pollard show that sealed the game. With not many runs to defend, Peshawar's only hope to stay alive was to pick wickets at regular intervals but that didn't happen. Tall young pacer Mohammad Zeeshan had a tough day at the office, conceding 48 in his spell while I've already written enough about the brutal treatment Salamkheil received towards the end. Luke Wood held his end of the bargain and chipped in with two wickets in an economical spell, emerging as the standout bowler for Peshawar. Earlier, Peshawar Zalmi put 154 on the board as Babar Azam anchored the innings but didn't get substantial support from his teammates and they fell short by at-least 20-30 runs
Babar Azam: I think we scored less. We lost few wickets in power play. I built partnership with Powel but he lost his wicket at the a wrong time. It could have been a different ball game if he was still there. It was a fresh pitch and the first over was two-paced but then it was normal and the pitch behaved the way it usually does here. You have to build partnerships and that's what we missed today
Ali Hasni: "Pollard is in hurry. He got to go for Shadi ki dawat (Invitation to attend wedding)"
Attiya : "Match finished in single over! "
Banged in short at middle, front leg raised and weight pivoting on backfoot, head, shoulders and back move back and across and he pulls it down the floor to square leg region
Ali Hasni: "MAT, don't under estimate KK, since Karachi is called mini Pakistan, KK team is same like Team Pakistan. Very talented but very unpredictable. "
Ali Hashmi: "Pollard spoiled a "may be thriller"."
Walt: "Dismissing Malik cracked the door open a tiny bit for PZ...Pollard has just violently slammed it shut again!
Pitched up on leg, clipped away to square leg, settles for a run
Ishfaq: "Ahh people and there obsession with Babar, we are playing Babar super league. "
Pressed down he floor on the rise into the covers for a run
Vivek: "Pollard putting you out of your troubles Rvel."
Length and plenty of width to work with, clobbered over third man for a four and Kings are just one hit away from a comprehensive win, Wood went full and slanted it across off
Bunty: "Wasn't the argument has been that your best player play the maximum balls in t20 game. If you are a batsman who's only job is put a score enough to win the game for your team then your failure to win the game will bring criticism. Even in t20s if you can't be there for 1 and half hours completely from ball one to 120th how will you do it in ODIs and test matches. This is were likes of Virat, Rohit,Butler,Williamson will have edge over Babar finishing the innings especially in t20." This is my first game where we've been discussing Babar right from the beginning to the end
Shortish pace-off ball at middle, swivels, rolls his wrists and carts it away to deep midwicket's right
Attiya: "There are 11 players from each side. Yet all comments are on babar. Why!!!!!"
Fired on a length and tailing from outside off, clattered away to deep cover
Shorter off-cutter at leg, clipped to square leg region and insouciantly walks through a run, hits the stumps at non-striker but he made his ground
Short, wide and slapped to deep cover-point
Takes the pace off and hammers it on a short length at middle and off, picks it well and pans it to the rope past backward square, found the gap with surgical precision
Nudged off the pads behind square leg, just 17 needed
Allows it to spin away from him and square cuts it towards sweeper, 27 off the over!
Pumps him over long-off and the result is same. It's absolute carnage out there, raining boundaries and Kings camp is relaxed now. Pollard is in no-mercy mood, power-hitting at its best!
And another one! Boundaries galore. Tossing it up in his hitting arc, sends it miles over long-off for a six, all the way for a maximum to cause delirium in the stands, these two have played against each other a lot and Pollard is winning the contest hands down
Makes room and spanks it away through cover for a boundary, situation is tailormade for him ans he's put his team right on top with these back to back boundaries
Munched down the ground for six! Too much flight and in his hitting zone, that is a huuuuuuuuge six over long-on
Over the wicket, tossed up a googly and it's like he read his mind well before the point of release, that's a staggering inside-out drive past TKC at deep extra cover, stepped to on side and made room
MAT: "Dare I say that this season, these two are the weakest teams and highly likely will finish 5th and 6th, "
Dani : "Very rare! Shoaib Malik got out on a spinners ball."
Dishes out a full-toss on middle, strongarms a pull to deep backward square
Standing a little outside his crease, slaughters this gift on a short length wide of off to deep cover boundary, Zeeshan is under the pump and looks overwhelmed while bowling to Pollard! And it's a double-whammy because he has overstepped, it's really tight, some part of the heel seems behind, tough one for the third umpire
Paceman lost his run-up
Climbing from back of a length at chest height, he skips down and blocks down the pitch
