takes the aerial route on this fuller ball at middle and she muscles it to deep midwicket, Mahika is well short of the crease while trying to push for the second and Birmingham Phoenix register a thumping win towards the end of their campaign, defended the total clinically!
Phoenix vs Originals, 28th Match at Manchester, Women's Hundred, Aug 24 2025 - Match Result
Sterre Kalis, Match Hero: It was obviously a tough start; the pitch was doing quite a bit. When I got in, it was a tough situation because we'd lost some early wickets. But Perry and I rebuilt, and I thought it was a good score on that pitch. It was definitely the kind of surface where, once you got in, it became a bit easier to score. In the end, it was a brilliant win. Look, we had to play really good cricket to defend a low-ish total, and we knew early wickets were going to be key and we got them. All the girls did really well. Obviously, it's been a bit of a tough campaign for us but what we can do now is play our best cricket and today, we showed what kind of team we are. It was a brilliant effort
It was a dominant day for Birmingham Phoenix. Finally, everything fell into place for them. It was a low-ish total but the recovery after early stutter was remarkable, as Perry and Kalis added 55 and 43 respectively, helping put 111/3 on the board. A little too late, perhaps, but they lived up to the billing and the big names came to the party. Huge credit to the pair who stitched together a match-winning stand and the entire team was lifted by that herculean effort. It wasn't easy to break the stranglehold and weather the early storm though. Something to rejoice for Phoenix before they end their campaign
goes full and the ball slides onto the toes, clipped out to deep midwicket, haring back for a second and Arlott cannot pick up the ball cleanly so MO saves themselves from another run-out, she would have been gone if the pick was clean
shortish length there and cramping her for room as she steps leg side and comes down, can only pushed to long on and gallop across to the other end
touch short and skidding on towards leg-stump, unable to nudge it away, aborts her lbw appeal realizing it looked a bit leg sisidh
over the wicket, length ball angling in at middle, skedaddles down and belts it to long-on, ambles across for a single
slowish yorker on middle and leg and she is forced to jam her bat down to block, puts her team on the ascendency again by brilliant need of the hour over at death
over the wicket, almost a pinpoint accurate yorker just outside off, squeezed out to long off
back of a length and hung away outside off, lofts it up in the air and it drops short of the fielder at long-off
very good catch by the keeper! another short of a length leg-cutter and she has no clue what to do about it, feebly flings the bat out and faint outside edge is drawn
bit of anti-climatic end to the innings, shorter in length, a leg cutter outside off, she shuffles across for a ramp and finds the fielder at short fine, strategically for this shot
jabbed into the covers, still in the game, do-able for sure, great bit of intent from both batters out there
that is extremely smart, playing a blinder of an innings, wanted a reverse sweep and then just deft touched it the other way around and into the gap at fine leg, smart thinking
on a length and just outside leg-stump, swivel pull to deep square
pushed across on a length and wide of off, makes room to force it to mid off
around the wicket, full and angled across off, pings an off-drive to long off, only a single
pace off fuller and outside off, charges and pulverizes it downtown but well fielded at long on, fruitful over for MO
fuller in length and skidding on, tries to play an almighty heave over backward square, through the gap between bat and stumps
drops down the pace, bit short and well outside off, tries to bludgeon it downtown, didn't get hold of it properly, pushed to long on region
touch fuller than a good length on middle, clipped using her fluid wrists and the ball dribbles away to the rope at deep midwicket
slower and shorter in length, down the leg side and gives more exercise opportunity to the umpire
