Not sure if that carry, they are celebrating! Fielder plucks a one-handed stunner at point, ball was dipping at her outside off and she slashes it straight to short cover who came charging in and Lanning takes a nifty catch, made sure it doesn't burst out, fingertips underneath and that brings an end to the game. Invincibles continue to go from strength to strength, comfortable win while Welsh Fire couldn't turn up again
Invincibles vs Fire, 16th Match at London, Women's Hundred, Aug 16 2025 - Match Result
Invincibles won by 39 runs
Marizanne Kapp, Match Hero: We didn't start the tournament the way we wanted to but it feels like we've got some momentum now. Hopefully, we can keep improving. Actually, I get annoyed when I panic… it was definitely a different pitch, especially compared to what we're used to playing on. Capsey's innings was brilliant ; it allowed me to just knock it around and adapt. (On the roles in the team) We like to do things in a certain way, and it works for us. I feel like different people are stepping up at different times and hopefully we can bring it all together in the next few games
The Invincibles had the game under control from the word go and defended the total clinically, with Marizanne Kapp striking at key moments -- removing Beaumont and Elwiss on balls 42 and 43. Sophia Smale chipped in with three while Amanda-Jade was superb with her smiley leg-spin, picking up two scalps. Alice Capsey rounded things off with a couple of wickets as well, making light work of the defence. Sophia Dunkley was the lone ranger, and without any substantial support, she couldn't do all of the taxing work. It was a struggle for the rest on a slow pitch where spin thrived. Earlier, Meg Lanning and Alice Capsey unleashed a magnificent onslaught to defibrillate the innings after a sedate start. Marizanne Kapp remained unbeaten on 47 while Wellington delivered the coup de grâce with a quickfire 17. A truly excellent all-round performance and the Invincibles look like they have all bases covered as the tournament moves into its business end. Welsh Fire, on the other hand, need a massive turnaround to stay alive in the competition. They need belief, better strategy and more players stepping up to get their first win on the board. Now, you may switch over to the men's game. For now, it's goodbye from me, Rvel Zahid
over the wicket, fuller and skidding on just outside off, prances down the track and she couldn't clear the 30-yard circle, finds the fielder at short cover who reverse cups, fire is almost extinguished
around and full, angling across off, punched to long-off. Very disappointing performance from Fire who find themselves in a rut
guides behind square on the leg side
looped up on a length and strangles her with the slowness of the delivery, knowing the fact that she was looking to go big and shaping up for an ambitious slog sweep and she is early through the shot, sees the middle-peg shaken with bails flying everywhere, Capsey has a big broad smile on her face. Terrific all around show
around the wicket, throws it full around the line off, she comes down and blocks it back to the bowler
pushed fuller on middle, jammed to long-on
tosses up a floaty legbreak outside off, finally a boundary. Stomps down the wicket and bullies it down the ground, clears long off, couple of bounces into the rope
played in front of square
touch fuller and dipping on middle, clipped towards midwicket, mere formalities left, eh?
just swinging wildly at every delivery, lobbed up and doesn't offer much room to free arms, prances down the wicket and finds fielder at mid-off
goes down the wicket and once again not in the gap at long off
down on one knee and slog sweeps it to midwicket, unable to find the fence
around the wicket, good length on middle, strokes it in the air towards midwicket
touch short on middle, clonks it square of midwicket
slower on a length outside off, springs down and scuffs a drive back to the bowler, rolled the fingers and bowled a cutter
around the wicket, fuller and angling in at off, powers it through the line to long-off
Anish: "If and only if there was someone to support Dunkley at the other end :("
length ball skidding on at off, inside-edge onto the pads, time for a little break, last one
lobbed up from around on a fuller length and it skids on, hits her pads, smiles all around as neither bowler nor keeper go after the ball, indecision
down the track again to create her own length, drilled to long-off
