that'll do nicely for Manchester Originals! Struck past backward square for a four, lowered her center of gravity and swept it with elegance, beating the fielder in the deep and guiding her team to the doorstep of a win!
Rockets vs Originals, 20th Match at Nottingham, Women's Hundred, Aug 19 2025 - Match Result
That's it from Espncricinfo's coverage of this game. We hope you enjoyed our coverage. You may tune into the Men's 100 game which starts in about 50 minutes. For now, it's goodbye and goodnight from Rvel Zahid and the rest of the crew
Beth Mooney, Manchester Originals Captain: Pretty clinical towards the end. To keep them down to 111 was an amazing effort. We joked that one big partnership would win us the game, and I'm happy that worked out. Bowling first, we read the wicket pretty well...it was a bit of an anomaly that some spun so much. The outfield was quick, so if you played nice shots, you got full value for them. I've got excellent support staff around me; they've (middle order batters) done a lot of the heavy lifting. The planning has been spot on, so I really just have to make a couple of decisions out there. Mahika has been a really strong addition to the group; she swings the ball up front. Kathryn Bryce has been unbelievable--she's such an unflappable character. (Mentions that Sophie and the other bowlers have been fantastic too). Dottin is great fun, always thinking about the game...she's a bit of a character and it's nice to have her around. In the last game, it looked like she was batting on a completely different wicket, which makes my life a lot easier. We've played on some pretty tired wickets, so being able to adapt is key in these tournaments. We've been on the road for a couple of days, (take some days off)...so for us, it's about making sure we keep a calm and composed environment
Beth Mooney and Kathryn Bryce stitch a match-winning partnership to register a thumping win over a hapless Trent Rockets side, who have simply not clicked as a unit and once again failed to pose any threat. They were bundled out for a low score, with no one able to play an impactful knock, and then had no answers to the openers' calculated innings. Manchester Originals' bowling attack was far more superior, boasting multiple match-winners -- Lauren Filer, Sophie Ecclestone, and Kathryn Bryce were all on top of their game, especially at the death. A lop-sided contest where MO never seemed in trouble
over the wicket, speared full-toss towards her as she steps away to the leg-side, punched to mid on
full and outside off, she comes down the track and cracks it for four past cover-point, just a boundary away from a big win, wants to wrap it up quicly
inverses her stance and reverse sweeps it to deep backward point, was a shortish delivery spinning across her
full-toss outside off, belted back to King who puts it down, was catchable for sure
once again fuller legbreak down the leg-side as she follows her, spun away sharply and beat keeper, gathered by the fielder at deep third
100 partnership up
Fuller legbreak again, ambitious slog sweep attempted, unable to execute and the ball turns away from the blade, misses it altogether
full and dipping on the toes, flicked to short midwicket
looped up into middle and gets it to turn away sharply, backs away to cut, finds short third, good delivery
bowling full, not really flighting the ball and allowing it to spin much, she takes a step down and shanks it between midwicket and long on
over the wicket, bowled full and limited her room as she moved outside leg-stump, blocked to the on side
drops short and wide of off, shuffles across her stumps and biffs it out with aplomb into the gap at deep square, hurtling towards victory and looks like they want to leave too many in the end, excellent backfoot pull
tossed on a length outside off, makes room and thwacks a cut, finds deep third, adds two more giddy sprinting runs, brings up a half-century, excellent knock! she has broken the back of the chase and would love to take her side over the line
high loop and lands full wide of off, clobbered away for four into the gap at cover and point, got low to slam it, middled it
fuller and slanting in at off, opens the face to steer it to cover point
Attendance - 7,724
around the wicket, lobbed up on a length just outside off, springs down the track and plays an inside out carve over cover, settles for a couple
another gimmie on middle, fuller and she chomps it downtown, beating the spirited effort and dive at long-on
fired full and shaped across off, gives her a charge and drills it downtown, beating long-off for a four, got to the pitch and allowed it to spin back at her, flat batted virtuoso swing off the middle
around, fuller on sixth stump line, comes down the wicket and clatters it to deep extra cover
