17.5 to Umar Akmal, fuller ball, lofted drive, caught at mid-of. Akmal trots off to an encouraging clap from his captain. Pakistan want as many runs as they can get and he falls in that cause.. 175/4 19.4 to Shahid Afridi, ahh, that's a flamingo flick straight to the deep square leg fielder! Afridi had a chance at taking the fastest fifty by a Pakistani in T20 cricket. All he needed to do was dab a single. And this ball was a hard one to drag into the leg side - it was outside off - but Afridi is looking as many runs as he can and so he walks outside his crease, and across as well and then twirls his wrists. Somehow he puts enough power on the shot to carry to the man on the edge of the boundary. 198/5

2.3 to Sharjeel Khan, eish! That won't look good on the highlight reel for Sharjeel. Jumps down the track too early, fails to adjust when Arafat slips it in quicker. Sharjeel was making room to open up the off side because he didn't like being cramped with the around the stumps line. Stayed a bit low too, beats him and shaves the off stump.. 26/1 16.4 to Mohammad Hafeez, he may be iffy in the slips, but Soumya on the outfield is absolute gold. He has claimed a catch that is as skillful as it is spectacular. Firstly, the slog sweep from Hafeez was powerful. It was flat and it was headed for six over midwicket. But Soumya darts into the frame, running to his left, extends to his full height and takes it with both hands. Oh, but there's more. The momentum takes him over the boundary, so he pops the ball up as high as he can, moves back inside the boundary line and ends up having to reach full length to reclaim the catch. 163/3

13.5 to Ahmed Shehzad, oh well. There was a helicopterish flourish to that shot and it did seem like he had put a lot of power into the stroke, but that's the longest boundary at midwicket and he ends up caught. It was slightly short and the batsman had set up for a pull, adjusted to play a flick and ended up with something like MS Dhoni's helicoper shot and picks out the man.. 121/2 |

0.3 to Soumya Sarkar, ready, aim, fire! Amir's pace is too much. Soumya's feet betray him again. Pakistan are flying high. This was a length ball angled in at off stump, but the batsman is stranded on leg. A flail of his bat happens but it may as well not have. 1/1 16.4 to Mushfiqur Rahim, That's the slower one and its befuddled Mushfiq. It was pitched short to tempt the batsman to go across the line, and when it sticks in the pitch longer, the top edge results. Clever bowling, and Sarfraz backs it up. 110/5

17.4 to Mohammad Mithun, slower short ball, Mithun looks to glide it away to third man. Perhaps he was only wanting to chip it, but it carries all the way to the fielder there. Amir takes a fine catch, but the umpires are asking for a double-check on the front foot. It appears touch and go, I can't quite see anything behind the line. The heel is on it at best, but the umpire disagrees. It's out!. 117/6

5.5 to Sabbir Rahman, I wonder if he labels himself more a bowler because he can pull off those Star Man celebrations. Maybe the fact that he reads a batsman's intent and one-ups him has something to do with it. Sabbir's been hitting like a dream, especially through the covers. So he bowls one shortish, but its rapid, and goes on with the arm. Sabbir had shaped for a cut, is awfully cramped up, and is soon bowled. 44/2 7.6 to Tamim Iqbal, smile for the cameras, Star Man. Afridi seems to have that seam-up one again, across the left-hander, Tamim goes for the slog sweep and gets a lot more height than distance. Sails down in to the hands of deep square leg. 58/3

10.2 to Mahmudullah, well judged, Sharjeel. He was running in, realised he had to move quickly to his left and dive forward too. Does all of it in perfect, fluid motions and comes up with a good catch. This is what happens with the required rate hits double figures. Good batsmen play poor shots and Mahmudullah's slog sweep - with two men on the boundary - predictably does not pay off. 71/4 |
