Australia's awesome recent form has been mirrored in the latest PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) ratings for international cricket, with four batsmen rated in the world's one-day top 10.
The remarkable Michael Bevan moved up to second behind Indian maestro Sachin Tendulkar, with Adam Gilchrist leaping seven spots to fifth. Ricky Ponting (seventh) and Mark Waugh (10th) were the other Aussies rounding out the top 10.
Graeme Hick, who scored three centuries in the recent Carlton & United Series, soared 12 places and is England's highest rated batsman at 14th.
In the bowling department, the Carlton & United Series' player of the tournament Glenn McGrath roared 16 places up to third, and is the only bowler in the top five for both the PwC Test and one-day ratings.
The injured Damien Fleming dropped out of the top 10, but Adam Dale (who was not even in the top 100 at the start of the year) has soared to 15th. Shane Warne is currently 20th.
In the Test arena, newly appointed Australian captain Steve Waugh reclaimed the No.1 batting position from Tendulkar. Brother Mark jumped four places to fifth, the only other Australian in the top 10.
McGrath was Australia's highest-ranked Test bowler in fifth spot. He was joined in the top 10 by leg-spinner Stuart MacGill (eighth), who jumped a phenomenal 21 places after his superb Ansett Australia Ashes series over the summer.
