31.5 to Najmul Hossain Shanto, straight to backward point, and the short-ball ploy pays off! Banged into the track outside off. Width to work with for Shanto and his eyes light up. He cannot keep it down, though, despite trying his best to roll his wrists. Guides it uppishly and picks out the fielder to absolute perfection. Muzarabani sports a beaming smile and Shanto trudges off disappointed, having gotten off to a start!. 98/3 43.1 to Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Short delivery does the trick! Banged in short pitched ball attacking the stumps, extra bounce off the pitch, Miraz got stuck inside the crease, cramped for space, attempted to move away at the very last moment awkwardly, squats down while throwing his bat at it, tickles off the glove and a regulation catch for Mayavo behind the stumps. 137/6 59.3 to Hasan Mahmud, knocks him over with a peach! Goes a little fuller, although this is still on a back of a length. But because Mahmud is expecting the short ball, his feet are stuck to concrete. Pokes at this ball that pitches on middle and off, and watches in disbelief as the ball jags past the outside edge and pings the top of middle and off. Excellent delivery, and Muzarabani has three for the day!. 187/8

8.4 to Shadman Islam, Edged and taken! Length ball wide outside the off stump, Shadman plays the straight-drive away from the body, commits to the shot early and failed to struck the ball with the sweet part of the bat, outside edged to the gully fielder, Bennett dives to his front right side, completing a superb catch.. 31/1 10.4 to Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Peach of a delivery! Good length ball pitching around the sixth stump line, Joy moves towards the line of the ball, slight deviation off the pitch, defends off the front foot and tickles off the outside edge of the bat, straightforward catch for Mayavo behind the stumps. Nyauchi strikes again!. 32/2
3 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 0.66 | 16 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
60.2 to Jaker Ali, goes straight up, and Jaker bites the dust! Given a bit of air and Jaker cannot resist the temptation to have a pop. Skips down the track, trying to smash it into the sea, but gets nowhere close to the pitch of the ball. Hacks across it a little too much and Curran, stationed at extra cover, makes no mistake. Vital wicket for Zimbabwe, and they will want to keep Bangladesh to a sub-200 total now!. 191/9 60.6 to Nahid Rana, leg stump goes for a toss, and Bangladesh have been rolled over for 191 at Sylhet! Fizzed through on a length just outside off. Rana plays for the turn and in the end, plays for too much turn. The bat stays inside the line and a gap is created for the ball to breeze through. Leg stump is uprooted, and Bangladesh will not look back at this first innings very fondly!. 191/10
10 | 4 | 21 | 3 | 2.10 | 52 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
38.6 to Mushfiqur Rahim, Soft dismissal! Short of a length ball on around the off stump, a bit of a loosener from Masakadza, Mushfiqur could have struck it anywhere through the on-side, clears the front leg and tries to swing it away over mid-wicket, did not get enough elevation and plays it flat, hits it straight to the short mid wicket fielder. 123/4 42.2 to Mominul Haque, Drills it straight to mid wicket! What have you done, Mominul Haque! Generously flighted delivery tossed up wide outside off, over the wicket, premeditates the slog sweep shot, goes underneath and plays it with the inner part of the bat, clips it into the safe hands of Madhevere. 136/5 48.2 to Taijul Islam, Short pitched delivery angling away with the turn down the leg-side, Taijul decides to swing it away down to fine leg, played with the turn while shuffling across the stumps, only managed to get a feather off the inside edge of the bat, good awareness from Mayavo behind the stumps, following the trajectory of the ball and completing the catch moving to his right side. 146/7 |

21.3 to NR Welch, Uprooted the off stump! Excellent line and length, kept on bowling on the probing channel and got the reward! Good length ball on the fifth stump line, moves towards the line of the ball and creates a gap between bat-pad, misses the line of the ball and goes through the defense, breaks the stumps. 88/3

16.5 to BJ Curran, Short ball gets the better of Ben Curran! Banged in short pitched ball on the leg stump line, extra bounce off the pitch, Curran tried to move away from the line of the ball, only managed to tap it off the glove towards short leg, excellent low catch taken by Mominul Haque, diving forward and held on to it. 69/1 20.6 to BJ Bennett, Nahid Rana strikes again! Short of a good length ball on the fifth stump line, Bennett tries to cut it square, extra bounce and pace off the pitch, this one kept on going straight in line, finds the outside edge of the bat and a regulation catch for Jaker Ali behind the stumps. 88/2 36.3 to CR Ervine, a few fractured appeals, and Shanto has indeed gone upstairs! Sharp back of a length delivery in the channel. Rears up and jags away, which prompts Ervine to try and shoulder arms. Bangladesh, though, think the ball might have grazed the glove or the bat as Ervine was trying to bail out of any possible stroke. Okay, hang on. Bangladesh might have plenty of merit in this. Looks like the ball has come right off the face of the bat. Clear spike on UltraEdge to substantiate that claim too, and Ervine has to walk back. Superb review, superb bowling, and Bangladesh have broken this threatening stand!. 129/4

49.3 to W Madhevere, Forced to chop on! SHort of a length ball around the fifth stump line, Madhevere shuffles across and tries to play it late, cramped for space, plays off the back foot and finds the thick inside edge, dragged onto the stumps!. 177/5
20.2 | 5 | 52 | 5 | 2.55 | 96 | 3 | 2 | 0 | 0 | |
54.3 to SC Williams, oh dear, what have you done Sean Williams?! Mehidy dangles the carrot outside off and Williams bites. He skips down the track, trying to go downtown but long off is placed exactly for the misstep. Williams slices across it too much and Mahmudul gets under it at long off. Has to wait an eternity for the ball to drop but when it does, he clings on. Williams throws his head back in disappointment, and then bends down with his hands on his knee. A hands-on-head moment too, and this is a wicket right against the run of play!. 193/6 66.3 to NP Mayavo, Trapped in front! Short of a length ball on the leg stump line, Mayavo bends down and clears the front leg, tries to whip it down to square leg area, misses the line of the ball and strikes the top of the front pad, massive appeal and given! Mayavo completes a quick chat with Masakadza and then decides to walk towards the dressing room.. 218/7 68.3 to WP Masakadza, Catch it is the cry, and taken! Generously flighted widish fuller length outside off, non-turner delivery, Masakadza goes for the big shot, whacks it with the toe end of the bat with no timing, hits it low and in the air to short cover, Shanto takes a well-composed fantastic low catch, diving forward.. 223/8 74.5 to B Muzarabani, Appeal for stumping from Jaker Ali, a polite one indeed! Flighted short of a length ball outside off, Muzarabani dances down the track and tries to hit it out of the park, misses the line of the ball as it kept low, Jaker Ali clipped the bails off swiftly. The third umpire spent a lengthy time checking the replays from different angles, which appeared to show Muzarabani's rear foot locked on the line when Jaker Ali broke the stumps.. 259/9 80.2 to VM Nyauchi, goes straight up, and the new ball does the trick for Bangladesh and Mehidy! A five-wicket haul for Bangladesh's vice-captain - his first at home since December 2022, and Zimbabwe have been bowled out for 273! Given a bit of air on a length just outside off. Nyauchi has a wild slog across the line and makes a complete mess of it. Plenty of height on it but no distance whatsoever, and Taijul at extra cover completes the most regulation of catches!. 273/10

34.6 to Mominul Haque, oh dear - the commentator's curse strikes, and Mominul is on his way! Back of a length in the channel, very similar to the ball that beat Shanto earlier in the over. Mominul has to play at it because of the angle but there is just enough lift and nip for the ball to kiss the shoulder of the bat. Floats through to Mayavo, and he makes no mistake this time. That will ease his nerves and give him some confidence, and that wicket will give Zimbabwe ample hope too. They have a breakthrough, and they have sent back the set batter!. 138/3
20.2 | 5 | 72 | 6 | 3.54 | 95 | 12 | 1 | 0 | 0 | |
3.4 to Shadman Islam, Shadman bites the dust, and Muzarabani is on the board! Angled in from around the wicket on middle and off. Shadman has a very tentative prod at it and almost hangs his bat out to dry. The ball kisses the outside edge and is gobbled up at second slip. Bangladesh dented early again, and Muzarabani is thrilled to bits!. 13/1 19.5 to Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Short ball plan paid off! Joy was struggling for a long time with the short ball, and failed to keep this one down. Well directed short pitched ball on the stumps, extra bounce and pace off the pitch, failed to get away from the line of the ball, only managed to glove it towards the first slip fielder, once again too late to react and adjust with the pace of Muzarabani, departs for 33 runs. 73/2 41.4 to Mushfiqur Rahim, nicked and gone! Muzarabani rips this game open on the stroke of tea, and Mushfiqur has to trudge back! Back of a length in the fourth stump channel. Mushfiqur has a nibble at it and does so with hard hands. With the steep bounce Muzarabani is generating, that is always going to be a problem and he hands a regulation chance to Ervine at first slip. Bangladesh rocked just as the second session was coming to an end, and Zimbabwe will enjoy this interval a lot more now!. 155/4 57.2 to Najmul Hossain Shanto, Leading edge and finds the fine leg fielder! It only took two deliveries to break the partnership for Muzarabani. Short pitched ball outside off, Shanto throws his bat at it, commits early to the swivel pull shot and only managed to struck the leading edge to widish deep fine leg, closed the face of the bat early and moved away, fielder comes around sprinting in and takes a brilliant diving catch to dismiss the Bangladesh skipper. 194/5 61.2 to Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Third fifer in Test Cricker for Blessing Muzarabani! Short of a good length ball on the off stump channel with extra pace and bounce, Miraz, once again late to react and adjust his stance, plays it off the back foot inside the line and moves the face of the bat on the way, thick outside edge and straight to the gully fielder. 210/6 79.2 to Jaker Ali, goes a mile up, and nestles into deep mid wicket's palms! No second new ball needed, and that is a piece of history for Blessing Muzarabani - he becomes the joint-fastest to 50 Test wickets (in terms of matches) for Zimbabwe! Angled in, around off. Jaker moves across his stumps, looking for the mow over cow corner. Gets plenty of height on it but not enough distance, which allows the fielder to settle under it near the fence and snare the chance. Bangladesh bowled out for 255, and Zimbabwe will need 174 to nudge 1-0 ahead in this series!. 255/10

62.3 to Taijul Islam, Short of a length ball darted around the seventh stump line, Taijul attempts to cut it square of the wicket off the back foot, goes past the outside edge of the bat. Soft appeal from the fielding side but the umpire is not interested. Ervine opts to send it upstairs. Loud cheers from the Zimbabwe players as Ultra Edge confirmed the spike as the ball passes the bat. Decision reversed and Taijul has to depart.. 213/7

77.4 to Hasan Mahmud, oh dear - a rush of blood, and that will be the end of Mahmud's resistance! Masakadza throws this one up on a length outside off. Mahmud, after seeing the ball rip past his outside edge very recently, thinks the only way to get himself out of this jam is by attacking. Hacks at it and hacks at it terribly. The ball goes straight up and Muzarabani, stationed at a deepish mid off, makes no mistake. Mahmud is disappointed. Bangladesh fans might be too, especially with the choice of shot, and that is just the outcome Zimbabwe would have wanted with the second new ball on the horizon!. 248/8 77.5 to Khaled Ahmed, and Khaled is outta here straightaway! This is another beautiful delivery. Slanted in on a fullish length, on off. Drifts in, dips on the batter late and Khaled has no option but to play at it. Dangles his blade and the ball kisses the outside edge, soon to be gobbled up by Ervine at first slip. Bangladesh nine down now, and Zimbabwe a wicket away from bowling them out for the second time this game!. 248/9 |

20.6 to BJ Curran, miscued, and taken! Curran bites the dust, and do Bangladesh have an opening here?! Floated up enticingly on a full length on off. Curran wants to launch this either over the bowler's head or towards long on, but he slices across it too much. Beaten in the air and then off the surface (due to the slight spin away), and he only picks out mid off. Bangladesh have an in. Can they capitalize now?. 95/1 30.1 to SC Williams, Miraz strikes! Flighted good length ball on the stumps, bounces awkwardly after hitting the deck, Williams premeditates to play across the line, moves the face of the bat with the angle and finds the leading edge of the bat, a regulation catch for Shanto at short cover. Williams couldn't believe it, taken by surprise by the extra bounce.. 127/3 32.5 to BJ Bennett, What have you done, Brian Bennett! Flighted length ball with the arm on the off stump line, shimmies down the track out of nowhere, goes for the big heave shot, the bat face rotates as Bennett struck the ball and sends it flying towards long on, Mushfiqur Rahim sprints in and completes the catch, making no mistake near the ropes. 128/4 42.1 to NP Mayavo, Cleaned him up! Short of a length ball on the stumps, pitching around the off stump line and turning in back at the stumps, Mayavo misread the length as the ball turned and bounced back, committed forward then later on went back onto the back foot, caught at the crease, goes through the defenses and crashed onto the stumps!. 145/6 48.3 to WP Masakadza, knocks him over with an absolute cracker-jack! Now then. Now then! Fizzed through on a length on off. Masakadza comes forward but cannot get to the pitch of the ball, which gives Mehidy the opportunity to rip it past Masakadza's bat. Perfect drift, just the perfect amount of revs and Masakadza is bewildered as his stumps are shattered. In the dwindling light, Mehidy produces a moment of absolute magic, and Bangladesh are now right in this!. 161/7

25.6 to NR Welch, huge lbw shout, and the finger goes up! Taijul has his first, and Bangladesh have another, just before tea! Pushed in full on middle and off. Welch comes forward and plays for the turn. But the ball goes straight on with the arm. Raps him on the front pad, with the bat also hitting the pad. Seemed pretty adjacent and Welch does not even bother with the review!. 112/2 41.1 to CR Ervine, Massive appeal turned down! The fielders are very interested with this one, length ball turning away slanted down the leg-side, goes past the bat-pad, loud appeal for the caught behind. Miraz and Jaker Ali managed to convince the skipper to send it upstairs. Ultra Edge confirmed a spike as the ball passes the bat, kissing the inner part of the bat, Richard Ketleborough overturned the decision and Bangladesh have got the big fish! The fielders are celebrating and high-fives all around!. 144/5 |
