Internationally renowned chef Marco Pierre White today added to the glitz and glamour of cricket's `Oscars' next month, after confirming that he would be the official caterer for the inaugural ICC Awards.
The ICC Awards - presented by Hyundai in association with FICA - will see more than 1000 guests gather with the world's best cricketers at Alexandra Palace on Tuesday 7 September for a gala ceremony to honour the game's most outstanding players of the past 12 months.
A sports enthusiast, Marco Pierre White said it was an honour to be involved in such an impressive event.
"The ICC Awards is one of London's most glamorous and prestigious events of 2004 and I am certainly looking forward to being involved in an official capacity," said Mr White.
"With the world's best players and special guests in attendance, we will prepare the finest cuisine to complement a wonderful night of entertainment.
"I have a strong interest in sport and will be keenly following the awards as they are revealed on the night, once we have ensured our guests have been completely looked after in style."
ICC Chief Executive Malcolm Speed welcomed Mr White's association with the ICC Awards.
"In keeping with the prestige of the ICC Awards and its status as a world-class event, it is fitting that guests will have the exclusive opportunity to dine under the name of Marco Pierre White," said Mr Speed.
"Mr White has built an unrivalled reputation in the food and entertainment industry, and we welcome the experience and enthusiasm he will bring to the inaugural ICC Awards."
Born in Yorkshire, White was the youngest and first British chef to be awarded three Michelin stars - a restaurant rating based on quality and value with three stars being the highest honour.
After graduating from the St George Hotel, White went on to build a collection of high-profile restaurants and his name is synonymous with some of London's finest eateries including the Criterion, Mirabelle, L'Escargot and Quo Vadis.
White will personally oversee the preparation of a specially selected, mouth-watering three-course dinner for all guests at the ICC Awards.
Limited tickets for the ICC Awards are still available. Single tickets or tables of 10 can be purchased from:
