Lancashire League set to reject merger approach
The Lancashire Evening Telegraph
Clubs in the EW Cartons Lancashire League are expected to resist an
approach about a possible merger from the Central Lancashire League.
The CLL have already voted to make the first move but their decision
has yet to be formally communicated to the Lancashire League.
Lionel Cooke, secretary of the Lancashire League, said: "So far we
have not heard anything from the Central Lancashire League and it is
impossible to comment until we do."
The CLL are believed to have voted 9-4 in favour of talks about a
merger, with two abstentions, which is hardly overwhelming.
And, despite the inter-league cup competition between the clubs, it
is understood that the vast majority of Lancashire League sides would
be against going any further down a merger road.
