A 24-member pool has been selected for the Seventh Women's Cricket World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in New Zealand from November 29 to December 23 this year.
The pool was picked following the Women's Cricket Association Challenge Trophy tournament which concluded on Monday, September 4. All eleven players of the champion team Slimline SC team have made it to the pool, while finalists Colts SC has the next most with nine.
The pool is currently under training from coach Guy de Alwis, the former Sri Lanka Test cricketer at the SSC grounds. The final 14-member squad will be picked at the end of October.
Sri Lanka will compete in the Super Eight segment with defending champions Australia, hosts New Zealand, England, South Africa, India, Netherlands and Ireland.
The team is scheduled to leave the country on November 21 and play their first warm up match on November 23.
