It is with great sadness that Sussex County Cricket Club announce the death of Peter Eaton, Head Groundsman, at the age of 57. Peter died of a heart attack this morning whilst on an ECB Groundsmans' Meeting in Durham.
David Gilbert, General Manager, spoke on behalf of the Club:
"Peter worked for SCCC for 34 years and was Head Groundsman for almost 30 years.
"During his time he established himself as one of the leading professional groundsmen in the country whose services were widely used by the Club and the England and Wales Cricket Board.
"He was one of cricket's characters and will be sorely missed by everyone at the Club. Our condolences go to his wife, Jacqui and family."
