So that ends New Zealand's defence of their total, India getting home comfortably in the end, seven wickets and almost 10 overs in hand

India notch up their seventh win in a row, maintaining their run of good form leading into the semifinals of this World Cup. New Zealand on the other hand will be disappointed with their performance in this crunch game, and they must hope for Sri Lanka to lose to Zimbabwe tomorrow to get through to the semifinals.

India were boosted hugely by their suddenly-potent pace triumvirate, Zaheer Khan doing the bulk of the damage today with four wickets. And after Shane Bond had India reeling at 21 for three, Mohammad Kaif and Rahul Dravid played sensible, solid cricket to take their side home.
