Lauren Bell

Lauren Bell marked herself out as a young fast bowler to watch in 2019, when she found prodigious swing and good bounce in the Southern Vipers' semi-final win against Loughborough Lightning in the Kia Super League. She came in for some rough treatment in the final, but the impression of a talented seamer remained.

In 2020, she spent most of the summer training with the England squad after being named in the enlarged group to enter the Covid-19-enforced bubble, though she found time to take seven wickets in four appearances in Vipers' run to Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy success.

Bell made her international debut in the 2022 home Test against South Africa as England set about rebuilding their seam attack in the wake of the retirement of greats Katherine Sciver-Brunt and Anya Shrubsole, and took two first-innings wickets in a rain-hit draw.

Having made her T20I debut against India a couple of months later, Bell impressed with nine wickets at an average of 6.55 and 5.90 economy rate on the tour of the West Indies at the end of the year. She also took five wickets on the ODI leg of that tour, including 4 for 33 in the second game.

After modest returns against Australia and India in 2023, Bell returned from New Zealand early the following year set on remodelling her action and found that by bowling more upright, she was able to swing the ball both ways. Her hard work bore fruit against New Zealand when Bell took a maiden five-wicket haul to seal a 3-0 sweep of the home ODI series. It was a breakthrough moment, which helped settle Bell as England's spearhead.

She was the hosts' leading wicket-taker in their T20I series with India and enjoyed an excellent season in the Hundred, topping the 2025 charts with 19 wickets at an average of 8.47 and economy rate of 5.39.
