0.4 to TL Seifert, cleans him up! Slows this one up and holds this on a shorter length just outside off. Does not swing away and instead spins back in just a shade. Seifert is playing for the one that goes away and misses it completely as the ball kisses the outside of off stump! What a start for Bangladesh!. 1/1 4.4 to DJ Mitchell, Mitchell bites the dust and Mahedi is off celebrating! Catch him if you can! Flighted up nicely on a length just outside off. Mitchell expects it to turn back considerably and shapes for the lofted straight drive. The ball, though, just holds its line enough to beat the outside edge and hit the outside of off stump. Mahedi has two, Bangladesh have four, and NZ in all sorts of trouble!. 20/4
4 | 0 | 26 | 3 | 6.50 | 14 | 3 | 1 | 0 | 0 | |
1.2 to FH Allen, edged and gone! NZ are wobbling! Length delivery pushed across the batter just outside off. Nips away off the surface too and draws the loose waft away from the body. Allen gets a thick outside edge and Sarkar gobbles it up at second slip!. 1/2 1.3 to GD Phillips, oh my days, what has happened here?! Fullish on leg stump and this one shapes in. Phillips shoulders arms, of all things, and gets thumped on the front pad. The umpire says no but Bangladesh have gone upstairs. No bat involved, of course. The only question is whether this swung too much and pitched in line. Phillips, after seeing the first replay, has his gloves off and is almost looking ready to walk back. Ball Tracking coming up now, massive, massive moment...three reds and Phillips is on his way. Crashing into the top of middle stump, and NZ are three down inside two overs!. 1/3 14.3 to MJ Santner, has that carried?! Sarkar is unsure, although he does signal to the umpire that he thinks it is out! Back of a length outside off. Santner tries to swipe it over mid wicket but shanks it badly. Clinks off the bottom part of the bat towards mid wicket, where Sarkar dives forward and takes it. The third umpire has been called into action, however. Looks like the fingers are under the ball, at least from one angle. This is a pretty close call, and the umpire, understandably, is taking multiple looks at it. The ball does bounce up into the centre of Sarkar's palms but the question is whether it bounced up off his fingers or the turf. The third umpire reckons it is off his fingers, and Santner has to go! Santner does not look very happy with that decision but the right decision seems to have been made!. 91/6
4 | 0 | 45 | 1 | 11.25 | 8 | 4 | 3 | 1 | 0 | |
19.4 to IS Sodhi, banged into the track on off stump. Sodhi swipes across the line and seems to miss it. Litton thinks there is some bat involved, and he has convinced Shanto to review. Litton was quite confident and came running in as soon as he caught the ball. And Litton's conviction is vindicated. There is a spike when the ball is next to the shoulder of the bat, and Tanzim has his first T20I wicket!. 127/9
4 | 0 | 15 | 2 | 3.75 | 15 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 | |
16.3 to JDS Neesham, the change of ball does the trick for Bangladesh! Neesham cannot believe what he has done! Attempted wide yorker that goes wrong and ends up as a juicy full toss outside off. Neesham times it well but hits it straight down Afif's throat at deep cover point. Neesham is disconsolate; Mustafizur and Bangladesh delighted!. 110/7 18.3 to TG Southee, Southee's luck runs out! Banged into the track outside off. Southee tries to swipe it away but the line means that he has to fetch it. Seems to bounce a touch extra too, and Southee can only miscue it high towards deep square leg. Afif settles under it and snaffles up the chance!. 124/8
3 | 0 | 24 | 1 | 8.00 | 7 | 2 | 1 | 0 | 0 | |
9.2 to MS Chapman, Rishad gets Chapman! Slider on a full length just outside off. Chapman's eyes light up and he thinks he can go inside out. Slices his stroke, though, meaning that it goes a lot squarer than he wants. Deep cover point settles under it, and does the rest. Just when a partnership was building for NZ, they lose another wicket!. 50/5

14.3 to Afif Hossain, two wickets in quick succession, and the Bangladesh boat is now creaking! Banged in short and the length seems to take Afif by surprise. He has an instinctive swipe at it but the ball hits close to the splice. Spoons up and Neesham holds on at short mid wicket!. 97/5

1.4 to Rony Talukdar, straight up, and Milne gets the early breakthrough NZ were after! Hard length on off stump, and this seems to stand up just a shade. Talukdar continues swinging but on this occasion, he can only sky it off the toe-end. Southee camps under it at mid on and takes a regulation catch!. 13/1

4.6 to Najmul Hossain Shanto, straight to Santner! Short, wide and begging to be hit. Shanto advances and tries to smash it. However, he neither gets it past Santner, nor does he get the elevation to clear him. Straight down Santner's throat, and Neesham has broken this threatening partnership!. 38/2

8.4 to Soumya Sarkar, timberrr! Full, fast, you-miss-I-hit stuff. Nips through in line with off stump and Sarkar misses it completely. Did not help himself but having a hack across the line but he now has to walk back. Sears was on the deck when the ball hit the stumps, having tripped over in his follow-through. He is pumped now, though!. 67/3

13.3 to Towhid Hridoy, Santner gets the breakthrough! Looped up on a length outside off. Hridoy comes down the track but does not get close enough to the ball. Reaches out for it in front of his pads and pops it to Southee at short extra cover, who dives low and snares the chance! Is there going to be a twist in the tale?. 96/4 |
