67.4 to BT Foakes, reverse swing most likely. Siraj has been bowling to this plan this over. Looking to swing it in with the midwicket up. This is full enough, and he plays at it with hard hands. Off the inside half of the bat it goes to short midwicket. Gone for a well-made 47. 225/6 75.3 to TW Hartley, absolute ripper. Don't need a fielder for this. Gets just that bit closer to off, and the ball moves away late, squaring him up, beating the outside edge and pegging the off stump back. A bit of a repeat of that Anderson dismissal. 245/7

9.2 to BM Duckett, and now he has his first wicket. Lovely bowling again. On that immaculately good length, just outside off, Duckett has to cover the angle from around the wicket, and it nips away just that little bit to take the edge. And this is not a no-ball either. What a start from Akash Deep. 47/1 9.4 to OJ Pope, wider on the crease, Pope steps out of the crease, beaten and hit on the pad. Shout for lbw, not given, and the umpire has ruled leg-byes even before 15 seconds elapse. So Rohit takes the review. I still think this might be too high. No it isn't. What a review. Akash Deep is hitting top of leg. What a turnaround in luck. Wide on the crease, some seam in, Pope's inside edge is beaten, hits him on the knee roll. Pope gone for a duck. 47/2 11.5 to Z Crawley, he has his man. Two times over. He has hit Crawley's top of off twice in one hour. Sixth over in his first spell on debut, and he gets his third wicket with the second-last ball. That perfect length, outside off, seams back in appreciably, and beats his inside edge. 57/3

24.1 to BA Stokes, trapped by a shooter, Stokes walks! Rapped on the ankle plumb in front of middle stump. Jadeja is celebrating from the moment it hit the pads, and Stokes can only throw back his head and laugh as he leaves the crease. Full length, he possibly could have been forward, but the ball grubbed viciously. Ends a rip-roaring session with a wicket from the final delivery before lunch. 112/5 102.1 to OE Robinson, lovely catch if he has hit it. Given out, but reviewed immediately. Why I say lovely catch is because Robinson is reverse-sweeping, and it is difficult to focus on the ball when there is so much activity happening. The replay shows the ball has missed the bat but has kissed the glove on the way. Desperately needed wicket for India, but a good hand from Robinson: his Test best. 347/8 102.4 to Shoaib Bashir, maybe he should have turned that single down. Bashir has a go at a length ball, and it turns to take a thick edge to point. 349/9 104.5 to JM Anderson, lines up the sweep, makes a meal of it! Dharmasena thinks for an age and raises the finger! Anderson reviews, this looked pretty adjacent, but was it maybe going over? Certainly no bat involved. Nope, smashing the top of off... England are all out!. 353/10
22 | 1 | 83 | 1 | 3.77 | 85 | 4 | 3 | 0 | 0 | |
21.2 to JM Bairstow, big appeal, YJB hit on the back leg sweeping! Not given by Rod Tucker but Rohit reviews. Looked pretty adjacent on first glance. Did he hit it? No, says UltraEdge. Pitching on leg, straightening enough from round the wicket. This is going to be overturned! Thumping into middle and off stumps, three reds. Ashwin gets amongst 'em in his second over. 109/4

2.4 to RG Sharma, there's the breakthrough! In the channel outside off, holds its line on a good length, Rohit's feet never really got his bat into line as he dangled on a defensive push and Foakes scoops up an audible nick! That's wicket No. 697, and it's a huge one! England have their new-ball incision. 4/1 88.3 to Kuldeep Yadav, played on. Oh Kuldeep is distraught. He has worked hard but got out in an unfortunate manner. Short of a length, angling in, he defends, the ball goes straight down, hits the inside of the front foot and rolls back onto the wicket. 253/8

24.1 to Shubman Gill, offspinner has got an lbw on the front-foot defensive. This is very rare. Gill has reviewed. It has to either be impacting outside off or missing leg. This is such a rare dismissal because it has turned in sharply to beat the inside edge and he is forward so if it has hit him in line, it has to be missing leg. Well almost. The replays show his front foot is half-cock, which means he hasn't entirely got outside the line. Umpire's call on impact. Well done, Bashir. Well done, umpire.. 86/2 34.3 to RM Patidar, thumped on the pads and Bashir has two! Patidar has reviewed, but hard to see him escaping this one. The ball skidded on, slamming him in front. Was it maybe missing leg? There's certainly no bat involved... Ball Tracker is taking an age to build... clipping leg stump, and England strike again!. 112/3 36.5 to RA Jadeja, pops off the pitch, loops to short leg! Bashir has his third, using his height superbly, extracting top-spin off a good length as Jadeja defends with low hands and it's the simplest chance that Pope will ever get at Boot Hill! A tame end to a feisty knock, and now England are into their day's work!. 130/4 46.4 to YBK Jaiswal, Bashir has got the big one. The huge one. And it is through low bounce. Great signs for England. Ominous ones for India. Jaiswal goes back to a length ball, it stays low, and he can only get the cue end on it. Bowled middle stump. Jaiswal gone for 73. Bashir into a 20th straight over has India on the ropes. 161/5 100.6 to Akash Deep, pinned on the crease, Bashir has five! Deep reviews but doesn't look too confident. Hit on the back leg, above the pad but with a bent knee... another umpire's call for England, hitting the leg bail, Rod Tucker raises his finger again! And now it is Bashir's turn to raise the ball aloft in acknowledgement of his maiden Test five-for. Fantastic effort from the young man. England a wicket away from wrapping this innings up. 293/9
27.2 | 6 | 68 | 3 | 2.48 | 130 | 5 | 3 | 0 | 0 | |
51.3 to SN Khan, sensational catch from Root. Draws the drive from Sarfaraz by slowing it down, he is not to its pitch as he drives, there is enough time for the ball to turn and take the edge. Root then dives to his left to pluck it. 171/6 55.2 to R Ashwin, Ashwin is reviewing this, but it doesn't look good for him. He has been playing the forward-defensive again and again, and it was only a matter of time before something misbehaved. This one has not only stayed low, it has also refused to turn. He is hit almost on the boot despite being on the front foot. No bat on it. Umpire's call on the leg stump. England, who had umpire's calls going against them in the last Test, have had three go their way today. 177/7 103.2 to DC Jurel, clean bowled 'im! Jurel denied his hundred, but he has played a fine hand. He grimaces as he looks back, it took a top delivery to pry India's wicketkeeper from the crease. Angled in and then spinning past a defensive push to hit middle and off. England take a 46-run lead on first innings, but it could have been a lot more but for Jurel's dogged effort. 307/10

4.5 to BM Duckett, Ashwin is on the board. Duckett will be disappointed he has got out playing a nothing defensive shot. A typical Ashwin dismissal. On a length, drifting in, making him play around the front pad. The ball doesn't turn, goes off the inner edge to short leg. 19/1 4.6 to OJ Pope, it is two in two. Dharamsena has raised his finger. Pope has reviewed. Parallel seam again, Pope goes back to play for an offbreak, the ball doesn't turn as much, beats his outside edge, hits his back pad in front of leg. Ball tracking returns umpire's call on leg stump. Pope has to go. A pair for him. Ashwin will be on a hat-trick next over. 19/2 16.6 to JE Root, huge lbw shout as he has missed a full and straight delivery. Not given, and India have reviewed. Has he got some bat on this? Full, middle and leg, beats the inside edge, hits him low in front of middle and leg. UntraEdge confirms no edge. Pitches leg, hits leg. India have one oveturned. Ashwin jumps for joy. India stay alive just as it was slipping away. This is the first ball that has turned in a while, and has thus beaten his inside edge. 65/3 53.2 to BT Foakes, gottim, chipped straight back! Foakes' tortoise race is run, failing to pick the carrom ball as he works across the line. Flicked out beautifully and it spins away to take the leading edge, a simple catch for the bowler. Ashwin does the job for his captain and we are almost at the endgame. 145/9 53.5 to JM Anderson, goes for the reverse-sweep, Jurel snaffles the ball! Not quite sure how it ended up in his gloves but Rod Tucker's finger goes up. England are cooked for less than 150, and India's target will be 192 to claim the match and the series. This was great work from the keeper, as the ball ricocheted off Anderson's hip and then the back of the bat - a reaction grab with one hand to finish things for India. Ashwin walks off with a five-for, too. 145/10
20 | 5 | 56 | 1 | 2.80 | 84 | 4 | 1 | 0 | 0 | |
33.1 to JM Bairstow, what a soft dismissal first ball. Jadeja tosses one up outside off, Bairstow pushes at it, it turns, hits the upper part of the bat, and lobs for an easy catch to short cover. He wasn't quite to its pitch, and while batters have been defending without reaching the pitch of the ball, this one turned and jumped at him. 120/6

28.1 to Z Crawley, bowls him with a ripper! Hits middle stump with Crawley playing back. Kuldeep breaks the partnership and celebrates with vim, leaping and punching the air. He had told Rohit to leave cover open and that's exactly where Crawley was looking to play. Beaten by the amount of turn, missed it by a long way. 110/4 32.3 to BA Stokes, keeps low again, scuttles through him! For the second time in the match Stokes throws his head back and laughs in frustration. Big spin for Kuldeep once more and the ball beats Stokes' crease-bound defensive push, grubbing through to hit him on the shin in front of off stump. For good measure, it then spins back between his legs to dislodge the bails. England five down, India wrangling in Ranchi. 120/5 40.3 to TW Hartley, superb catch by Sarfaraz. Finally a misjudgement of length from Hartley. He thinks this is full enough to again loft over mid-on, but this is not full enough. Doesn't get the elevation, and Sarafraz, who is deepish at mid-on, takes a fine catch diving in front. I am reminded of how Suresh Raina used to take such catches. 133/7 40.6 to OE Robinson, given again. He is reviewing again but not with certainty. They have three left so why not? The perfect delivery from Kuldeep. On a length, turning in towards middle and leg, beats the inside edge as he defends, hits him below the knee roll. Umpire's call on the leg stump. England retain the review but Robinson has to walk off. 133/8 |

17.3 to YBK Jaiswal, Root strikes. England's best spinner this series. This is full, full enough to think of an attacking shot. Jaiswal looks to go over extra cover, but the ball still turns enough to take the think outside edge. And the 41-year-old Anderson dives forward from short third to complete the catch. 84/1

25.1 to RG Sharma, Dragged out of the crease, and Rohit is stumped! Magnificent moment for Hartley, round the wicket, dangled the ball on a string outside off, beat India's skipper in the flight and off the deck, as he attempted to push the ball into the off side. Foakes made no mistake and the anchor is dragged! In fact, there was an edge on that, so it goes down as a catch. Now then.... 99/2
26 | 4 | 79 | 3 | 3.03 | 110 | 5 | 2 | 0 | 0 | |
26.2 to RM Patidar, caught at short leg! Patidar's innings is brief and England are cock-a-hoop! Bashir hits his length once more, turn from an off-stump line, into the inside-edge, onto the knee-roll, Pope leaps to his right and snaffles a clear offering! India lose their third and suddenly, there's life in this contest again!. 100/3 38.1 to RA Jadeja, has he hit a full toss straight to midwicket? Oh this is such a gift. Jadeja has been caught in this defensive mindset that he is not putting away a full toss. He is trying to place it instead of whacking it. Low catch for Bairstow at short midwicket. May as well tie a bow around this. 120/4 38.2 to SN Khan, huge appeal for catch at backward short leg. Not given. Looks to me to be just the pad, but let's watch replays. Nice turn from outside off, Sarfaraz is nowhere near its pitch as he defends. And the ball turns and bounces, and it has taken a thin edge onto the knee roll. Bashir is on a hat-trick. 120/5
