It could be over for Ireland already. They have lost twice to start the tournament, and sit at the bottom of the points table. And if they hope to push their case, it will need an encore from 2007. The flip side, though, is that USA and Canada have made this World Cup intriguing enough pretty early. Join us for the action tomorrow morning later today, as New Zealand kick off their campaign. Until then, it is goodnight!

NJ Devils: "Group A suddenly becoming Group of Death in two days time :)"

Saad Bin Zafar: "Very proud moment for me as a team. Ireland bowled well and took three wickets, and put us on the rope. Once we got to 137, we knew it was a good total to defend. We needed a good performance from each and everybody. So proud of each and every bowler that they delivered when it mattered. Wanted to go pace upfront, but I saw that the wicket was a bit slow today... It wasn't easy to get under the ball. It's one game - and one day - at a time, and we're going to come strong against Pakistan as well. It's very important [to get that support]. Cricket is growing in the country."

Paul Stirling: "Was a tough loss today. It was certainly gettable. We just need to improve all-round. Hopefully we can show a better game. Huge game [coming up] for us."

Time for the presentations

Nicholas Kirton is the Player of the Match: "It's very good to get over the line. I just tried to get in, and tried to get the pace of the wicket. Played a bit up and down, but it was a very good wicket to bat on - to be honest. The partnership with Movva was very important. Hopefully we can go from strength to strength. Our next focus is Pakistan! Better purchase on offer [on the pitch]. We are just taking it one day at a time."

Mark: "For Ireland, even beating India and Pakistan may not be enough. They are going to need a big NRR boost too. Canada 'only' need to beat one of the two to be in the mix."

Prasanna: "Group A is suddenly looking more competitive and producing interesting games"

1.58pm Two successive days of an Associate team upsetting a Full Member. Almost a justification that having so many teams in the World Cup is about more than just filling up the spots. Give them a chance at the global stage, and they will show you what they can achieve. Canada come from behind to beat Ireland today, even as they were 54 for 4 after being asked to bat. Kirton and Movva the heroes for Canada, whose bowlers never let Ireland settle even in pursuit of a modest score. The seventh-wicket pair fought for Ireland with a 62-run stand, but by then, it was a little too late.

1
Gordon to Dockrell, 1 run

Canada win by 12 runs! Their first win in a T20 World Cup! Short of a length outside off, and flung to long-on off the inside half of the bat after skipping down the pitch

The Canada dugout and fans can't wait to get going...

19.5
1b
Gordon to McCarthy, 1 bye

this time they go for a bye! Good bounce off a length outside off, as McCarthy is beaten again after attempting a pull

19.4
Gordon to McCarthy, no run

dot ball! On a length just outside off, and McCarthy's attempt to deposit it across the line doesn't pay off

Binod: "Two upsets in two days! Come on associates!"

19.3
2
Gordon to McCarthy, 2 runs

shortish length, and pulled off the top edge towards square leg

McCarthy

W
Gordon to Adair, OUT

caught and bowled! Gordon comes back into the attack, and checks Ireland straightaway. He banged it in on the shorter side of a length once more, with the line being around sixth stump. Adair went ahead with the pull shot, but ended up ballooning the ball. Eventually, Gordon ended up very close to where the striker is, and took it with a reverse cup

Mark Adair c & b Gordon 34 (24b 3x4 1x6 33m) SR: 141.66

Raj: "Hope Canada holds their nerves and wins this game!"

19.1
Gordon to Adair, no run

ahh, dot ball for Canada! Short of a length just outside off, and Adair went to pull but missed, with the extra bounce coming into play

Gordon to Adair, as the tension builds up

Ireland need 17 in the final over. These two have already 62 in quick time, but the pressure will be double in these last six balls.

Kaleem Sana to Adair, 1 run

low full toss angling across towards middle and off, and heaved to short fine leg

18.5
4
Kaleem Sana to Adair, FOUR runs

four more for Adair, who keeps Ireland alive! He got across the stumps early, and Sana launched a yorker on leg stump. Adair went clipping, but replays show the ball went off the inside edge to beat the keeper diving to his left. Four more, and more Irish luck there

"Am I the only one here cheering for Ireland?" --- I'm sure not, Kelly!

18.4
Kaleem Sana to Adair, no run

fires a yorker, which angles across to finish just outside off. Adair pushes at it, but gets an inside edge to the keeper

From over the wicket now...

18.3

Kaleem Sana to Adair, FOUR runs

ohh, some luck going Ireland's way! Another high full toss angling in and ending outside off, as Adair swung his bat but got an outside edge which went past a diving short-third fielder, who moved to his left

18.2
1
Kaleem Sana to Dockrell, 1 run

yorker length angling into off, and dragged to long-on after making room

Minhaz : "Come on Canada! Just do slower deliveries"

Heyliger to Adair, 3 runs

great save by mid-off chasing it back! But Ireland still nab three, as Adair swatted this shortish ball outside off to launch it aerially and wide of mid-off. Dhaliwal there went back and pulled the ball back

17.4
Heyliger to Adair, no run

ahh, again there is the extra bounce which beats the batter! On a length just outside off, and Adair went hacking only to get beaten

Ajay: "Seen Dockrell win multiple games from this position before"

Heyliger to Dockrell, 1 run

shorter side of a length on the stumps, and pushed towards wide mid-off

17.2
4
Heyliger to Dockrell, FOUR runs

ohh, beats mid-off! Short of a length outside off, and Dockrell swatted back down the ground. The ball landed just short of the mid-off fielder moving to his right, and so he couldn't get his hand

Mohit: "Come on Canada.... just one more wicket. Can't be going the Super Over route again"

17.1
Heyliger to Dockrell, no run

ahh, he sees Dockrell back away, and goes on a length on fifth stump. Dockrell reaches out to try and slash, but is beaten

Heyliger will finish off

Kaleem Sana to Adair, SIX runs

swung over short fine leg! This went off the top half of the bat, but still cleared the rope. And the Ireland supporters are in full mood now. On a length, and angled into middle and leg from Sana, Adair went pulling and bagged six to keep pushing Ireland

Pawan Bhattarai: "Canada need to hold their nerves for the next 3 overs.."
