SUPER OVER - END OF OVER10 runs • 1 wicket
OMA: 10/1CRR: 10.00

12:30am The Great Escape for Namibia. They seemed to be in control. And then they seemed to panic. They almost fluffed it. Before they redeemed themselves. Wiese being at the forefront of it all. PIcked up three wickets in the game proper. Then turned up with the bat in the Super Over, before sealing it with the ball in the over that followed.

Spare a though for Oman, though. Their score of 109 did not seem par by any stretch. But they made a game of it. Ilyas and Ayaan applied the squeeze in the middle. But it was Mehran's spell that turned out to almost be magical for them. Three wickets for almost nothing, and that double-strike in the last over in the contest almost did it for them. The T20 World Cup is off to a cracking start!

That's all from us at ESPNcricinfo. On behalf of Sudarshanan, Sudeep and Ranjith, this is Sreshth saying bye! See you in a few hours for South Africa v Sri Lanka.

Gerhard Erasmus, winning captain: (Tricky pitch?) It was tough to sum it up and get momentum. We tried that with running between the wickets but you felt you needed that odd boundary. Unfortunately we couldn't do that, and we need to take accountability for that before the next game. (Jittery batting) It was a tough one on a tough wicket like that. It showed in the Super Over that if you put pressure there will be some scoring opportunity. (Super Over) We haven't had one in a competition game. Great to be part of. Winning a close game early breaks the duck and brings you into the tournament. Experienced everything in this game."

Aqib Ilyas, losing captain: (enjoyed the game?) Yeah we could've enjoyed the game if we would've won, but still results... you know... losing and winning is part of cricket. We were maybe 15-20 short. We had already discussed this wicket was on the turning side. That's where we short. (Super Over, had a plan?) I think Bilal is one of the best bowlers you can have in Associate and this level. But there are days where you plan and it doesn't execute. He was clear, we were clear, but maybe the ball was wet and he couldn't execute. Some days it is your day, some days it goes the opposite way."

David Wiese, the Player of the Match: "Aged a couple of years tonight. Don't have a lot of years left in me (laughs). Emotionally draining evening. (Batting and bowling in Super over) It helped that I had a feel of the game and knew if I get a few hits out in the Super Over .... then with the ball, felt like taking the ball and executing. Pitch was difficult, didn't play the way we thought. But we adapted well. It was two-paced, it was a difficult wicket to get yourself in. Definitely one you needed to spend a bit of time before capitalising. (Target) Difficult to gauge a good target because if you're chasing 180 then you're playing differently. But when you let them bowl the way they did, you bring them back into the game. Lots of learnings from this game."

Wiese to Aqib, SIX runs

Full toss, deposited but it does not matter for Namibia! They win the Super Over to get off the mark in the T20 World Cup. Ilyas stood deep in the crease and swatted the full toss over backward square leg but Oman end up the second best on the night

0.5
1
Wiese to Maqsood, 1 run

Comes around the wicket to the left-hander, on a length, Maqsood looks to heave it away but gets it off the inner half past short fine leg

0.4
1
Wiese to Aqib, 1 run

Bowls a length ball wide of the crease, angling it in, Ilyas looks to hack it across the line but gets a thick inside edge onto his back thigh. They cross over as the ball rolls to the off side

Captain Aqib Ilyas is the new batter in. Got a golden duck in the game

W
Wiese to Naseem Khushi, OUT

Plays on! Wiese exults and he knows the value of this strike Once again lands the very full ball next to where Khushi's front-foot stride is. He goes for the drive through covers but gets an inside edge onto the stumps

Naseem Khushi b Wiese 2 (3b 0x4 0x6)

Wiese to Naseem Khushi, no run

The first dot of the Super Over! Nails the yorker just outside off, Khushi can only hit it back towards the bowler

2
Wiese to Naseem Khushi, 2 runs

Goes for the yorker, bowls a low full toss outside off. Khushi reaches out and gets it wide of long-off for two

12:05am Zeeshan Maqsood walks out with the pads on. He has Naseem Khushi as his partner. Namibia disperse after their final huddle. Experience with the bat, experience with the ball. Wiese, right arm over

SUPER OVER - END OF OVER21 runs

Trumpelmann could have been another choice considering his four-wicket haul in the game proper. But he is seen miming throws from the deep, which suggests he is going to be fielding. Namibia choose experience again, with Wiese at the fore

Wiese and Erasmus have done just what Namibia would have wanted, but it is only job half-done especially for Wiese. He is seen selecting the ball, for he is going to be delivering it for Namibia. He has not even taken his pads off yet!

Bilal Khan to Erasmus, FOUR runs

Squeezes it away! The Super Over has gone to plan for Namibia. Once again Bilal nails the yorker outside off. But Erasmus is sitting deep inside the crease. Jams his bat in time with an open face to play it wide of short third. Namibia manage 21!

Bilal Khan to Erasmus, FOUR runs

Now Erasmus joins the party! Almost a Rashid Khan-esque shot. Full and wide outside off, he leans forward and uses his wrists to swipe it across through backward square leg

Bilal Khan to Wiese, 1 run

Full and wide outside off, he can hit it only to sweeper cover. Just one, and importantly for Oman, Wiese is off strike

Here's Sudarshanan again to call this super over. Oh what a game it has been!

hbina: "Unpopular opinion, there shouldn't be super over in group matches. Tie is a result too" -- I suppose. On some days neither team should go home as the losing side.

11.47pm Oman are jubilant that they've managed to drag this game into a super over but they'll know they have the momentum and could actually end up winning this game. Namibia will bat first now in the super over.

The last Super Over at the T20 World Cup was in 2012 between New Zealand and West Indies.

MAB: "Defending 5 runs in a T20 on any wicket in the world is an incredible performance. Amazing cricket."

Zaeb Ansari: "Early to call, but this world cup could well be in two parts , low scoring thrillers in Caribbean leg, and high scoring colorful matches in USA leg."

1b
Mehran Khan to Wiese, 1 bye

WE ARE GOING TO A SUPER OVER! Good length ball outside off. Ball takes extra bounce and Wiese can't cut. Keeper can't grab cleanly either, and the ball falls to his left. Wiese and Kruger run across and the keeper tries a reverse throw while diving. He misses, and Kruger completes the run. We finish on a tie.

Namibia need 2 off 1. A single will mean a super over. Expect the non-striker to run

Mehran Khan to Wiese, 2 runs

full ball on off and he creams the straightest of straight drives. Ball smashes into the stumps at the bowler's end and it ricochets away towards cover for a couple of runs. The stumps have probably saved a boundary there!

Four needed off two.

Mehran Khan to Green, OUT

O man, Oman are in this! Green tries to play a cheeky leg-side scoop over short fine leg but he misses. Mehran's full ball on off stump hits him on the pad and the umpire gives him out LBW. Namibia review. Crashing into the stumps!

Zane Green lbw b Mehran Khan 0 (2b 0x4 0x6 2m) SR: 0

Five needed off four balls!

Ameer Abdullah: "This world cup is going to be one of the best ever. 20 teams doing their best to show the world what can they do. Any team has the asset to upset any other. A good month of cricket ahead."

and it is a dot ball! Green makes room at first but then returns to his normal stance as Mehran bowls a full ball outside off. Green attempts to ramp it over short-third but misses

New batter on strike.

Mehran Khan to Frylinck, OUT

oh my days! More drama! Around the stumps. Full ball on middle and leg. Frylinck tries to clip it leg side but the hits his pad, and then it ricochets onto the stumps!

West Indies found themselves in a similar position earlier in the morning game, but the experience of Chase and Russell took them through. Namibia need Frylinck and ideally Wiese to stay there till the winning runs are hit

17.6
Mehran Khan to Wiese, no run

good length ball on a fourth-stump line. The cut is hit well, but straight to the man lurking at point. Namibia need 14 off 12

Jayant Isswani : "Are all the matches in Carribbean going to be a struggle for batters to reach 140?" -- Appears so after 2 games but let's see how the other venues stack up
