0.3 to SD Hope, early breakthrough for South Africa! Length outside off and Hope thinks he can crash this through the off side. The ball seems to bounce just a touch extra, though, and Hope can neither get under it nor get over it. Drives it uppishly and Stubbs snaffles it up at cover point. Just the start the Proteas would have been after; just what WI did not need!. 2/1
4 | 0 | 28 | 1 | 7.00 | 11 | 1 | 2 | 2 | 0 | |
1.1 to N Pooran, and he gets rid of Pooran! Dangles the carrot outside off and Pooran bites. Steps down the track and tries to smash it into next week. Does not get to the pitch of the ball, though, and has to reach out. Clinks it off the bottom half of the bat and long off makes no mistake under the high ball. Pooran was also hitting into the wind and that might have played a part too. A hush around the ground, and the West Indies in an early spot of bother!. 5/2
4 | 0 | 24 | 1 | 6.00 | 10 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 | |
12.4 to R Powell, does him all ends up! Floated up devilishly on a full length just outside off. Drifts into Powell and drops on him late before snaking away past the outside edge. Powell over-balances, trying to prod at it and that is all de Kock needs to whip off the bails. Easy decision for the umpire, and another significant blow for the West Indies!. 89/4
4 | 0 | 26 | 0 | 6.50 | 13 | 1 | 2 | 2 | 0 | |
4 | 0 | 27 | 3 | 6.75 | 11 | 3 | 1 | 0 | 0 | |
11.6 to KR Mayers, Mayers bites the dust! Shamsi pushes it wide on a length, and that is after watching Mayers advance. Mayers, like he did earlier in the over, has a go at it but cannot control his stroke well enough. Slices it and Stubbs, running in from the deep cover point fence, takes a comfortable catch. Shamsi is off in celebration, and Mayers departs after a 34-ball 35!. 86/3 13.5 to SE Rutherford, edged and taken brilliantly by Markram at slip! Given a bit of air on a length outside off. Rutherford nibbles at it without any real footwork and gets an outside edge, unsurprisingly. Flies towards Markram, who swoops down low and gobbles it up. The third umpire has a look at it and concludes the fingers are under the ball. Sharp catch by the South African skipper, and West Indies slide further into trouble!. 94/5 15.1 to RL Chase, three for Shamsi, and the West Indies are imploding! Tossed up on a length on leg stump, and Chase's eyes light up. He tries to smack it into next week but does not get to the pitch of the ball as much as he would have liked. Miscues his slog sweep and Rabada does the rest at long on. West Indies 97-6 now!. 97/6
2 | 0 | 11 | 1 | 5.50 | 7 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 | |
17.5 to AJ Hosein, Hosein falls too! The softest of dismissals! Length just outside off and this seems to hold in the surface. Might have been a cutter actually and Hosein is early into his stroke. Plonks it straight back to Rabada, who keeps his eyes on it and snares the chance!. 118/8 |

1.1 to RR Hendricks, big appeal, but umpire Alex Wharf is unmoved! Back of a length delivery that slides down leg. Hendricks tries to glance it fine and there is a noise as the ball passes him. Pooran thinks it is off the bat, and the West Indies go upstairs. Did it brush the thigh pad or was it off the bat? Clear spike when the ball is next to the bat, and Hendricks has been strangled down leg!. 12/1 1.6 to Q de Kock, Russell has two in the over, and the crowd comes alive at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium! Banged into the track on middle and leg, and de Kock thinks the length is ripe for his trademark pick-up shot. Attacks it but does not account for the slight extra bounce. Gets big on him and he splices it straight down Rutherford's throat at deep backward square leg!. 15/2

5.2 to AK Markram, Markram perishes! And Joseph rips this game open! Fullish just outside off and with mid off up, Markram thinks he can slam this downtown. Does not quite get on top of the stroke, though, and the bat face opens upon contact. Gets height but no distance and mid off, back-tracking a couple of paces, takes the catch. West Indies have the breakthrough they would have wanted after the rain break!. 42/3 7.6 to H Klaasen, sharp bumper, and Joseph roars in delight! Serious gas on this, and it causes Klaasen all sorts of problems. Hops around his crease, trying to get out of the way but simply cannot do so. The ball keeps angling into him, from a middle and off line, and flicks the glove. Pooran has to back-pedal but watches the ball all the way into his gloves. Excellent catch, and a big wicket for WI, but is it already too late?. 77/4

11.4 to DA Miller, cleans him up! Now then. Now then! Fizzed through quicker and flatter on a length on off. Miller thinks it is short enough to cut but in truth, it isn't. He plays the trajectory rather than the length, and the ball comes on with the arm to knock back off stump. Another twist in this tale?. 93/5 13.1 to T Stubbs, Stubbs departs now! And Chase is turning this game on its head! Fullish on off, and Stubbs thinks he can deposit this into the ocean. The ball, though, sticks in the surface just enough and seems to get big on Stubbs. Does not get the contact he desires and spoons it straight to Mayers at long on. Wow, this game is alive!. 100/6 15.2 to KA Maharaj, in the air, and taken! Listen to the noise at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium! The West Indies believe, and their fans are starting to believe too! Throws up the temptation outside off and Maharaj cannot resist it. Skips down the track, looking to go over long off but all he manages is a shanked attempt straight into Joseph's palms!. 110/7 |
