driven to mid off and suddenly it starts pouring down with dogs and cats, they go off
Australia vs Sri Lanka, 1st Semi-Final at Gqeberha, Mar 18 2003 - Match Result
Huge downpour, covers rushed in. There is a breeze and experts believe play may restart but if not Australia would still win by 48 as the par score according to the D/L method is 171
Status is that we have heartd from western suburbs that rain has cleared there and so may well clear shortly from St George's too
Current status at 16:45 GMT is that there is still no play and likely to be called off
If called off the Aussies will win by about 48 runs there are still about 15 to 20 mins till we know for sure
It is still raining and play has not quite yet been called off, we have a covered square surrounded by security (rather cute looking) dogs and officers
The par score when it started was 171 indicating a 48 runs win for Australia as the minutes count down. Mind you I would not like to test how cute those dogs out there are!
Match is indeed over with a 48 run win for Australia ending with Sri Lanka on 123 for 7
Australia did have a few wobbles while batting and then Symonds came into his best to help put up a reasonable 212. Then Sri Lankan hopes were finished off by a clinical performance by the Aussie bowlers led by Lee with 3 for 35 and Hogg with 2 for 30 when rain did the rest
Good bye all and we hope you will all be here, perhaps more as India take on Kenya for a day/night game at Durban on Thursday
Good night for now
