Over the wicket, slung a heat-seeking yorker aiming for the toes, can't flick it away and ball thunders at his shoe, they appeal in unison and umpire raises the finger. Review taken. Here's hawk-eye: Pitching in line, impact in line and half of the ball is hitting the leg stump so the on-field decision stays. Lahore Qalandars finally managed to break the hoodoo and capped off their first win of the season!
Qalandars vs United, 23rd Match at Rawalpindi, PSL, Mar 06 2024 - Match Result
Lahore Qalandars bowled exceptionally well tonight, picking wickets at frequent intervals and puncturing holes regularly in Islamabad's chase. Zaman took four wickets; he peppered them with his nettlesome yorkers and didn't lose his composure after being hit for a few boundaries. Shaheen Afridi dismissed Alex Hales in the first over and Salman Agha fell early in the piece as well. Colin Munro was run out in the sixth over and Shadab Khan couldn't handle a stunning yorker from Zaman Khan. The slide continued as Jordan Cox and Imad Wasim got out in single figures too and it looked like one-way traffic from thereon but there was a twist in the tail as Azam Khan and Faheem Ashraf put the team back on track as they valiantly marched closer to the target. Azam Khan got out in the 11th over but then Faheem struck up a partnership with Naseem Shah -who added 27. Islamabad were not ready to give up at all. In the end, Faheem Ashraf ran out of batting partners as Zaman managed to get through the tail--which is quite long. It was a chaotic attempt at the chase even though the target wasn't stiff. The top order failed to apply themselves and weren't too judicious in their methods. On the other hand, David Wiese showed how instrumental he has been for Lahore Qalandars, making a huge impact in the game and returning 1/19. Earlier, Lahore Qalandars found it hard to negotiate the fast-bowling triumvirate of Islamabad but gritty resistance from Rassie van der Dussen (64) and some help from Shaheen Afridi and David Wiese pushed the score to 162, which just proved enough on the day.
This is Rvel Zahid signing off on behalf of Sudeep Poojar. Thank you for your company and comments. See you tomorrow. Cheers!
UmairN: "Rauman nearly retired due to a knee injury "
Round the wicket, little bit short and brings it back at off, punched on the up towards mid-off and dashes across to the other end
Bhav: "I wish Azam had played a bit more sensibly and taken the game deep. He will probably learn with time. Lets see if Faheem can close with a Dhoniesque finish and redeem his season with this one performance."
Turning up the heat, whacked away insolently past wide mid-off for a four, too full and offers width. Absolutely leathered it on this occasion!
Sprays a short wide delivery outside the leg-stump, review taken for a caught behind, it's far away from the edge
Cracked at it and sends it sailing over wide short third for a four, was full and wide and he placed it into the gap, he played an awesome innings last year against Multan in a similar situation and certainly has the ability to snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat
Low full-toss on off, that's a monster hit several rows back of midwicket! Full-toss is sweet music for him, it's not over yet!
Bilawal Sattar: ""Mr Sibte Ali" Do you remember Tim David inning against Rumman Raees? His pace is not up to the mark, you cant survive with the pace of below 135 in t20 ."
Zeeshan : "@sibte Ali: he was really good in and after ct17, but got injured afterwards and hasn't been at that level after the injury. Hope he gets back though "
Round the wicket, in the blockhole at leg stump, jammed back to the bowler
Shanked off the pads to vacant areas at midwicket for a run
Low full-toss on leg, went hard and it and Zaman can't pouch it, he had barely any time to react, hit Zaman on the shoulder and he looks in discomfort
Pace-on was working well for him but this was a touch slower, a cutter wide of off, he dispatches it to deep cover boundary and beats the sweeper
Round the wicket, sends a rocket on a full-length, he makes room and clatters it away to deep third
Nasty throat ball getting big on him, raises his bat and manages to keep it down to point
Fuller on the pads and he whips it away to deep square leg, gets off the mark, Raees comes in at 11
Hunain perishes! Dreadful death rattle means he has to go back to the pavilion. Slung full on off, tries to boom it across the line and rearranges his stumps. Was a full-toss on off
Rams a pinpoint yorker at middle and leg, toe-ends it behind square on the off-side
123kph. Slow ball bumper on middle, happy to duck under it. Looks a bit harsh, wide given on height
Back of a length with a hint of width, chopped to the right of point
Fuller on leg, shanked into the empty spaces at deep midwicket
sibte Ali: "Can anyone confirm why have we always underestimated and neglected a bowler like Ruman? He has been a regular at PSL and he is genuinely goods "
Over the wicket, searching for the yorker, not quite on target, swirls away from leg stump
Over the wicket, short of a length at middle, clipped off the pads to square leg
