Ends the innings with a searing yorker, he digs it out to long-on. Islamabad United register a comprehensive win over Peshawar Zalmi
United vs Zalmi, 20th Match at Rawalpindi, PSL, Mar 04 2024 - Match Result
Shadab Khan, Player of the Match: It wasn't a typical Rawalpindi pitch, was spongy early on and ball was swinging, but if you get momentum here, it's hard to stop. We didn't have a set total in mind but were approaching it over by over and were looking to get at-least one boundary in every over. The way ball was seaming around until the 11th-12th over, we knew we could create problems with our pace attack. (On 300th wicket) Feeling like I'm in rhythm, if you look at figures, they don't look good but I think they were good if you consider the match situation. Hunain is getting better day by day and hopefully he will represent Pakistan one day. You find a good 11 during the tournament. We tried a few combinations but it's working well now.
Saim and Babar form the spine of Peshawar's batting and once Islamabad got them out inside the powerplay, Peshawar's hopes went up in smoke as the game headed for an earlier finish as they were tottering at 3/3. However, Aamer Jamal showed gritty resistance and annihilated bowling attack in his 87-run enterprising knock. Paul Walter tried to keep them in the hunt but it was a matter of a few good overs that escalated the required rate to an exponential level, and then it became onerous in the end. Hunain Shah is growing in confidence voluminously and backed up his brother exceptionally in the middle overs. Earlier, Naseem Shah made the new ball talk and got the vital wicket of Saim Ayub. Shadab Khan erred on the shorter side earlier in his spell but came back strongly in the end and got the wickets of Walter, Jamal, and tailender Zeeshan towards the end. It will be a great morale-boosting win for Islamabad United, who have consolidated their position on the points table as things are falling into place for them just at the right time of the tournament. Earlier, Shadab played a fluent 80-run knock and the middle-order chipped in to push the score to 196, which proved enough if you factor in their potent pace attack that can outfox the best batters in the business. That's all from us tonight. Take care!
That's a stunning yorker in the blockhole, he hams his bat down and keeps it out to midwicket.
Makes him smell the leather with a vicious bumper nibbling in at leg, gets his head away from the line and avoids it
Goes fuller and angles in, he swipes it down to long-off for a run
Magnificent yorker just outside, can't get under it and toe-ends it to long-on
Pitched up wide of off, pummeled in the air but finds the fielder at sweeper cover
Bustling in and searching for the yorker but ends up bowling a low-full toss that is driven down the ground
Fuller at the stumps, prodded to mid-off
haha! Bit shortish at middle, carted over deep backward square for a six, and just evades Munro but the ball boy does a stellar job taking a diving catch and gets a warm hug from Munro. That was a fabulous catch from the young budding cricketer; he dropped one earlier but hung onto a great catch on this occasion
On a length and swaying across middle, belted out of the screws right back at the bowler who can't cling on
Slung full and shaping back into the right-hander who looks to flick and wears it on his pads, mere formalities left
Nails a pitch-perfect yorker that kisses his toe while veering away. Prolonged appeal for an lbw but the umpire thinks otherwise. Ball tracker says pitching in line, impact in line and it's umpire's call so that saves Irshad
Looping low full-toss floating outside leg stump, tries to help it behind square
Wickets continue to tumble. Short of a length pace-off ball right at his body as Wood skips down the track and then gets confused, doesn't know what to do so he top-edges it to keeper, Raees is such a canny customer, it was a back-of-the-hand slower one that got the better of him
Zingers are lit! Shorter googly and that rips through the stumps, he backed away and swung for the stands but missed it completely, ending up rearranging his stumps
Clean bowled, Jamal played all over it! Shadab Khan gets his 300th T20 wicket, that is a tremendous riposte after being bashed for a six. Aamer Jamal has produced an exhilarating show tonight and entertained the Rawalpindi crowd royally, such a treat to watch!
Lofted straight down the ground! Puts on the dancing shoes and that's a brave shot, got in a stride and pumped it straight over long-on, it's a monster hit, 102 meters!
Zips it quicker on back of a length outside off, beats his late cut
Shorter legbreak on middle, splayed his front foot out the leg side, made room and languidly heaved waaaayyyy over deep midwicket. Such a clean striker of the ball!
Asim korai : "All efforts of having early inroads going in vain. I thought at the start that this would be a NRR booster win for IU but surprisingly they are struggling to win it."
Shorter googly wide of off, checks his square drive
