Mitchell Santner: Glenn's knock and his partnership with Bracewell gave us the momentum. We were looking at 280 or 300 at one stage but Glenn's knock was icing on the cake. There was a bit of help for spinners and the big wicket of Fakhar helped. To get Fakhar and Babar is not easy. We were able to chip with wickets in the middle, which was good. We have got eyes forward to Karachi. But we know how good Pakistan are and the bounce-backs are not far away. [On Bracewell's catch] He has got pretty big hands, so he makes it look very easy.
Mohammed Rizwan: When you lose, it's a difficult day. The pitch was a bit difficult early on but Williamson and Mitchell did well and then the way Phillips batted, no words to describe that. The learning was the execution with the ball towards the end and fielding. But the way Abrar bowled... and think Khushdil bowled - he has an allrounder, you cannot expect ten overs from him. He had bowled five, six well. There are no confirmed reports but think it's nothing to be worried about.
Glenn Phillips is the Player of the Match: We had a tough little middle period. Pakistan bowled well. Bracewell got the momentum for us and I tried to kick on from there. When you give away your stumps, bowlers weirdly don't go for them. So I was able to give myself some room. I love my bowling. But it was my first ODI hundred, so pretty special. We have got the team culture going and we keep adding to it. For me, it's about as much energy I can put in the field and add those little nuggets to the team bucket.
10.10pm A thumping 80-run win for New Zealand to kick off the tri-series. It was set up by their batters, Phillips and Mitchell in particular. Chasing 331 was always going to be an uphill task and only Fakhar Zaman gave a fight. Once he was out, the result was more or less sealed despite the resistance from Salman Agha and Tayyab Tahir. New Zealand's only concern would be Rachin's wellbeing who was hit on the face while attempting a catch. Pakistan, too, will be worried about Haris Rauf who had walked off mid-over with a side strain and didn't come out bat.
