0.2 to PR Rekhade, big appeal as he curves one back in to strike Rekhade on the pad. My first thought was it may have been a tad high. But Sachin Baby opts to review. The ball pitches in line, there's no inside edge, so height is the only question. He was hit above the flap. But ball tracking projects the ball to be hitting middle. What a review, Kerala strike early. . 0/1 6.3 to DG Nalkande, pulled straight to a strategically placed deep square halfway in! Nalkande looks to fetch this from way outside off and doesn't control the pull, hits it in the air and the catch is well taken by Basil. So the decision to promote Nalkande doesn't work.. 11/2 123.1 to NN Bhute, Nicked off trying to run it down to third. Vidarbha bowled out for 379. Just 122ks but back of a length, Bhute's feet was in front of leg stump and the ball went over off. A bit of seam movement away and Bhute, who opened the face fully followed the line of the ball while tip-toeing. Thin edge and the keeper took it low while lunging on his right knee. 379/10

12.5 to DR Shorey, a dive from the keeper and Eden has struck! Length ball outside off. Appears to be angling in but it deviates away after pitching. Shorey chases after it half-heartedly, and Azharuddeen takes a low single-hand catch diving to his right!. 24/3 100.3 to YV Rathod, Around-the-wicket works, taken at first slip! 130ks, slower than EAT's general pace, but the line and length were bang on! Landed around three-quarters of the way down the pitch, seam pointing towards first slip, around off stump before straightening a touch. Looked like it picked up pace off the pitch and the in-form Rathod tried to defend it to the bowler's right. His weight was forward, the bat was relatively close to the body, not that much he did wrong trying to block that. The ball was too good, rubbed the shoulder of the bat and went low to first slip. 297/7 113.3 to AV Wadkar, the change in bowling brings a wicket! The speedster gets a length ball outside off to zip off the deck. Wadkar tries to slap it through the off side but he gets a big edge to the keeper! Too close to his body, rising ball too, bad shot played minutes before lunch. This is a big wicket!. 335/9

95.3 to DV Malewar, It took a nip-backer that good to remove Malewar, for 153! Basil's lengths have manufactured that wicket. This is good length, landed around fourth, just 128ks but it was right in that in-between area. That stopped Malewar from committing either on the front foot or the back foot. He took a bit of extra time before trying to push it to the bowler's left. There was a gap between bat and pad, through which the ball skidded. The toe of Malewar's bat was on the floor when he finished. 290/5 99.4 to Yash Thakur, That's gone! Looked plumb, Thakur has a long chat before deciding not to review. Was a full ball at 128ks that angled in from wide of the crease. Landed around fourth stump and finished around middle. Replays suggest that there might have been a bit of seam movement in. Beat the straight drive on the inside edge and hit the back leg right in front of middle. Bowler was almost at the striker's end as he jogged while appealing. It just looked dead. 295/6

110.1 to AK Karnewar, that's a stunning catch! Full ball just outside off. Drives with the turn, but Kunnummal at cover flies to his left and takes a great catch inches off the floor. That's the third wicket that his fielding effort has earned in this innings. Kerala keep chipping away. 333/8

0.5 to RS Kunnummal, Yorker from Nalkande has Kunnummal dribble it back onto the stumps. 129ks, landed just in front of the crease - in front of off. Kunnummal's feet were mostly upright and slid leg side, his torso lunged across and he tried to adjust to the inswing. The seam position wasn't of an outright inswinger, the seam was slanting square, like with an offbreak, but it seemed to have moved in the air late. Kunnummal taken aback and has to leave for a three-ball duck. 1/1 2.3 to AR Chandran, Nalkande swings one in again, has another batter hit it back onto the stumps. 131ks on fourth stump, Chandran tries to drive it through mid-off. He played the line, didn't move his feet across and that left a small gap between bat and gap. It was a firm drive without being checked, a shot he practises but only after the ball crashed onto middle and off. The bails spinning all over is a great sight for Nalkande, who is pumped. Vidarbha on top early. 14/2 94.1 to Mohammed Azharuddeen, Big shout for lbw, and given! Azharuddeen goes up in review immediately. Full ball outside off, angling in. Azharuddeen looked to flick but was beaten. He is struck below the front knee roll. Azhar thinks this was doing too much. It hit him in front of middle and leg. No DRS reprieve for Kerala this time, as ball-tracking shows the ball clipping leg stump! Huge cheers among the Vidarbha camp and supporters. Nalkande with a huge breakthrough! This was an enterprising knock, with Azhar looking quite proactive. But now he has to go. 278/6

31.3 to Ahammed Imran, this time the pull brings the wicket! Thakur brought in a midwicket fielder after the previous pull, and this time Imran has miscued the shot straight to the substitute fielder. Thakur digs it in short, the timing is much poorer, and it doesn't clear the infield. Thakur and Rathod hug each other in celebration. The plan has worked! Young Imran goes for 37. 107/3

55.6 to AA Sarwate, something really had to give, and Dubey has given Vidarbha a massive breakthrough. Slows this down wonderfully, gets the ball to spit off the rough as Sarwate's jab lobs up to silly point where Malewar completes the catch as he takes a couple of steps back. Dubey came close to picking a wicket thrice in this spell and has one finally.. 170/4 70.4 to Salman Nizar, massive, massive decision. Given out lbw by Anil Chaudhary as the ball rips back in from outside off and strikes Nizar on the pad. But Nizar has reviewed immediately. The ball certainly spun back in sharply but bounce may have been in question. Given out on field so it only needs to be grazing the stumps for the decision to stay. Let's see. Ohhhhhhh, what a massive, massive moment. Ball tracking shows the ball would hit middle-and-off. Kerala have lost a big, big wicket at the stroke of lunch. Kerala also lose a review. It's that man again, Harsh Dubey who has delivered both wickets to fall this morning.. 219/5 121.6 to MD Nidheesh, Big appeal, the umpire thinks for a while and raises the finger. And the batter reviews immediately. This is full around middle and off, spinning away sharply as he lunges forward. The bat face closes a bit. There's no bat, and that's going on to hit off stump! Nidheesh has to go back and Vidarbha are just one wicket away from that first-innings lead! And Harsh Dubey now has the most wickets in a Ranji season!. 338/9

106.5 to Sachin Baby, what have you done, Sachin? What really on earth has happened? Baby can't believe what has just happened, neither can Amay Khurasiya or anyone else in the Kerala dressing room. Sees this tossed up outside off from Rekhade, Baby can't hold back and looks to slog sweep, but ends up picking out the lone man in the deep. The sun was right in Karun Nair's eyes but he keeps his composure and makes it look very easy. Sachin wanted to hit this over long-on but because he didn't get to the pitch, ended up dragging it towards deep midwicket. 324/7 118.3 to Jalaj S Saxena, The break brings the breakthrough! The pressure tells on Jalaj Saxena, who misses the paddle sweep! Rekhade is ecstatic, as are his team-mates! This pitches full on off and spins away, going past the bat to clip the off bail!. 337/8 124.6 to Eden Apple Tom, And Vidarbha secure the first-innings lead! Another attempted slog sweep misses and this one goes on with the angle to crash into the stumps. Kerala fall 37 runs short of Vidarbha's first-innings total. That will also be stumps on day 3 The players walk back to applause from the dressing room, after Akshay Wadkar gives a team talk to the huddle. 342/10

2.2 to DR Shorey, excellent catch by Azharuddeen! Someone prevent Nidheesh and co from leaving the ground while celebrating, and Azharuddeen is the reason for that. He threw himself full stretch in front of the slips, and although grabbed it in front of first slip with both hands, he fell almost in front of second slip. It was a lovely ball from Nidhheesh, as he went fuller than the previous ball, and just outside off. The ball moved away a bit too after pitching. 7/2

1.1 to PR Rekhade, bowled him! Saxena strikes first ball! He hits the top of off with a beautifully dipping ball, and guess what, no turn at all. Saxena angled this in from around the wicket to the left-hander Rekhade, and even bowled on the shorter side of a length on off. Rekhade was shaping to defend, but without accounting for the dip, as the ball was tossed up. He had also left a gap between bat and pad, and that was enough for the ball to sneak through. 5/1
14 | 0 | 57 | 1 | 4.07 | 56 | 8 | 0 | 0 | 2 | |
108.1 to HS Dubey, full ball, late tail in and gone! Apple Tom has got his man, or so it seems. Dubey has reviewed but he seems stone dead. He plays outside the line and is beaten on the inside edge as the ball strikes the pad. The thing to look out for was if the impact is in line, because there is no doubt where the ball is headed. Ball tracking says impact was umpire's call and it would've gone on to hit off-stump. Is there life in the game yet?. 279/6
44.5 | 12 | 96 | 4 | 2.14 | 209 | 2 | 4 | 0 | 0
80.1 to YV Rathod, Referral for lbw. Original decision is not out. Rathod goes right back and across to defend this sharp-turning delivery, it beats the inside edge to hit the pad. At the point of contact, part of the middle stump and leg stump are fully visible. And ball tracking confirms this would've hit leg, so Kerala manage to overturn the decision through DRS.. Rathod paid the price for going too far across. Is there life yet for Kerala? The season's highest run-getter is gone.. 238/4 96.3 to KK Nair, stumped him! The ball did plenty last over, and it does something in this one too. As does Nair, who decides to venture down the pitch. He advanced down early, with the ball being angled in on a length on the stumps. It turned away to finish just outside off, and Nair was completely beaten with the attempted flick on the leg side. Azharuddeen was standing close to the stumps, and whipped the bails off within half a second. 259/5 109.6 to AV Wadkar, keeps low, beats Wadkar with one that skids through and it crashes into the stumps as he plays across the line! Kerala are ecstatic, are they onto something? It's a tall, tall order, but there's hope yet. Wadkar plays back to one he may have been better off playing forward.. 283/7 133.4 to NN Bhute, beats the inside edge as he lunges forward, done in by the drift comprehensively. Given out on field and I see no reason why that would be overturned. Would've smashed middle and leg. It's being reviewed Ball tracking and ultra edge merely confirm what we knew all along. Three reds ans gone!. 346/9

130.4 to AK Karnewar, bowled him! Karnewar looks back at the stumps, and shakes his head. Basil switches the angle to around the wicket, and strikes first ball. He angled this in, and bowled it on a length around off. The ball straightened after pitching, and clipped the outside of the off stump as Karnewar looked to defend but was beaten on the outside edge. Kerala have their eighth, but it could be too late. 331/8

59.4 to DV Malewar, the big partnership is over, and Chandran has delivered the breakthrough as Malewar once again stabs at a sharp-turning delivery that drifts in and kicks off the rough to take the outside edge. The ball lobs to Baby at slip. What a knock, what a player.. 189/3 |
