taken at deep midwicket! Rangana Herath's 415 Test wickets are the most by a left-arm bowler in Tests. Feeds him on the slog sweep, tossing this outside off. He takes the bait, and hits it quite well, but he can't clear the fielder on the boundary
Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka, 2nd Test at Dhaka, , Feb 08 2018 - Match Result
1:41pm And that's all we have for you from our live coverage. We'll have plenty of post-match content coming your way. Don't forget to stick around for those. Have a good day!
Dinesh Chandimal: This was a really good series. The first game was a nightmare for the bowlers and this one was a nightmare for the batters. The guys executed our gameplans really well out in the middle. After the first game we thought the second pitch might be a turning wicket. We were surprised, because we have all the experienced spinners. Credit also goes to Roshen Silva who had an outstanding series - even Kusal Mendis and Dhananjaya. Also all the bowlers.
Roshen Silva: First of all I want to thank the almighty God for helping Chandimal win the toss on this wicket. We batted first and the rest is history. I thought this wicket was difficult so I just wanted to keep it simple - I just played my normal game. I think one of the strength's we have is the guys in the lower order never throw away their wickets. Even 20-30 runs is very valuable on this wicket. I hope and I pray that I can carry this forward for the rest of the career.
Roshen Silva is the Man of the Match and the Man of the Series.
Mahmudullah: Feeling really disappointed because we knew the pitch would get us a result. In this sort of a wicket you should cash in on the first innings. Their bowlers did the job really well, keeping the pressure on us every time we came out. Our bowlers [only] did well in patches. One positive was the intent from Mominul. He played spinners on the front foot as well as the back.
Sampath: "Roshen Silva should play in limited over cricket as well. He is a well composed batsmen! "
SudarshanaSL: "Difference between the two sides batting was Roshen who held batting together in both innigs unlike Bangladesh. So in this pitch MOM should be him rather than Akila."
Aamir Gadit : "Bangladesh lost their last 6 wickets for 23 runs. And 5/3 in the first innings. That's 11/26 both innings together. Shows exactly where they need to improve. "
Gayan Cool: "Congratulations herath.... age is not a barrier if heart is there "
Shernawaz: "Most wickets by right hand bowler Muttiah Murali and most by left hand bowler by Regana Herath. Both from same country."
1:18pm Sri Lanka win the series with this, by a 1-0 margin. They've won most sessions in the series, and pretty much every one in this match. Bangladesh barely had control through this game and the second innings ends much like the first - with an exaggerated collapse at the end. It's been indicative of their resolve throughout the game. Sri Lanka gave them nothing, and for most parts, they didn't face resistance. Roshen Silva's fifties in both innings, Kusal's counterattacking 68 in the first, and Dananjaya's eight wickets on debut are the key performances that have done this for Sri Lanka. Rangana Herath applied the finishing touches while breaking a world record in the process.
good length at off stump, gets under this with the reverse sweep and slices it to the third man boundary
tossed up outside off, swipes across the line and is beaten. Keeper fumbles
inside edge as he looks to slog another one against the turn. This rolls out to deep midwicket
slogged away. Tossed up on a leg stump line, gets to the pitch of this and sends it into the wide long-on boundary on the bounce
Akila Dananjaya's 8 for 39 (at the moment) are the best match figures by a Sri Lankan debutant. He's beaten Ajantha Mendis' 8 for 132 against India.
five for Akila! Floats it outside off, draws him forward and gets him to stab at it with hard hands. He's playing against the turn, away from the body and he's got a thin edge. It's another sharp catch from Dickwella, this was rising sharply
dropped at short leg and it was a difficult chance. Spits up on him as he defends on the front foot and the inside edge goes into the floor
just clears deep square leg. Beaten in flight after stepping out but he goes through with the shot. A slog with the turn, and the fielder would have had it if he was back on the fence. He's running backwards and it just clears the boundary
tossed up on middle stump, lunges forward and pushes this past the non-striker to get a single at mid-on
Sandeep: "@Ude.. dont think Sri Lankan fans are calling for his head.. more like asking to use his head more"
length ball on off stump, gets down to try and paddle this. Deflects to gully off the pad
length ball comes in with the arm and catches him on the front foot, but it was sliding down leg
good length outside off, reaches out and pushes this through point
ude: "I know some Sri lankan fan are calling for Dickwella's head because he hasn't made a significant knock in a while, but he is the best wicket-keeper we got. That last stumping was sharp. "
tossed up on off stump, defended off the inside half of the bat
good length on off stump, defended on the front foot
inside edge as he pushes on the front foot. Length ball doesn't turn away and this slips through from between his legs
tossed up on middle stump, defended on the front foot
good length, on off stump. Plays for the turn. Gets it off the inside half on the front foot
looks to slog, and he's beaten. His trailing leg looks antsy as Dickwella takes the bails off. They've sent it upstairs....and he'll be out. The back leg is outside the crease as the keeper gathers this outside off and stumps him
good length on off stump, defended on the front foot
looks to slog this but gets an inside edge through short fine. Tossed up on middle stump and he gets the front leg out of the way to hoick at this
