84.6 to KMDN Kulasekara, Finally Zaheer lands one on target and gets a wicket. It was full in length, moving away from Kulasekara who gets a thin edge through to Dhoni. 359/7
16 | 1 | 82 | 1 | 5.12 | 65 | 13 | 1 | 1 | 0 | |
47.4 to DPMD Jayawardene, Done in by the bouncer. Yuvraj hugs Sreesanth. It was the short-pitched delivery, Mahela swivels to pull but top edges it straight to deep backward square-leg. Just reward for a fine spell.. 187/3
32 | 3 | 112 | 4 | 3.50 | 131 | 12 | 1 | 0 | 0 | |
19.5 to NT Paranavitana, Harbhajan has struck. He has been bowling really well and has got the breakthrough. Paranavitana, who was looking so good, is gone. It was a loopy flighted delivery around the off stump and Paranavitana edged his attempted cover drive to first slip. Done by the dip.. 93/1 48.1 to TT Samaraweera, Samaraweera walks after edging. Almost Ponting like dismissal, if you know what I mean. It was flighted outside off on a length, Samaraweera lunged forward to defend and got a bat and pad to short leg. Double strike and India are back in the game. Much depends on Dilshan who has played a fab knock so far. He has to carry on for a really big innings. 188/4 64.6 to TM Dilshan, Dilshan is not too happy. Given out caught at short-leg. Oh dear oh dear .. what a poor decision by Llong. It turned in and Dilshan stretched forward to defend. The ball was long away from the gloves or the bat and bounded straight off the pad. Oh what a crucial moment this. He played so well so far. But he has to go now.. 262/5 87.2 to HMRKB Herath, one more down as the shadows lengthen. It was around the off stump line, Rangana goes for the sweep and it goes off the toe end of the bat to first slip where Dravid takes a good tumbling catch. 362/8

30.5 to KC Sangakkara, And he has been strangled down the leg side. What a way to go. This one was turning down leg side, going past his hips when Sanga tried to glance but got a faint tickle through to a delighted Dhoni, who takes a neat catch. 128/2 79.6 to HAPW Jayawardene, moves down the track but is beaten in flight and hits it straight to mid-on. Ojha shouts out few words at the departing batsman.. 329/6 94.4 to UWMBCA Welegedara, trapped in front of middle and leg, skids on from a length, straightens around leg and middle to hit the pad .. would have hit the leg stump. 393/10

89.6 to R Dravid, Ah! That ploy works. Dravid loses patience and goes after a full delivery well outside off .., memories of how Mitchell Johnson took him out during Australia's tour of India. Another fine solid knock from Rahul. An immensely better morning for Sri Lanka.. 487/3
20 | 1 | 105 | 1 | 5.25 | 72 | 16 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
114.2 to SR Tendulkar, The off cutter does the trick. It moved in from a length, from outside off stump, Tendulkar went for the on-the-up drive but the ball collided with the inner edge and it sneaked in through the bat and pad gap to clip the off stump. Clatter! Kulasekara is delighted.. 558/4
53.3 | 2 | 240 | 3 | 4.48 | 199 | 16 | 10 | 0 | 0
39.1 to M Vijay, Trapped in front. He is livid with himself for his shot selection. It was the full delivery, the carrom-ball on the middle stump line, really full and Vijay went for the sweep; too full to sweep and he missed it completely. Dead duck. But what a fine innings it has been from him. Very easy on the eye. Sehwag pats him on the helmet as he walks past.. 221/1 127.2 to Yuvraj Singh, Herath picks up a wicket. A just reward for a fine spell. It was floated outside off, drifting away, Yuvraj went for the big shot but sliced it away to deepish mid-off.. The man was placed between conventional mid-off and long-off and it went straight to him.. 610/6 151.4 to S Sreesanth, The carrom ball gets him another wicket. It broke back in, Sreesanth had a waft across the line and was hit on the back pad.. 670/9
51 | 4 | 195 | 4 | 3.82 | 201 | 21 | 3 | 0 | 1 | |
82.2 to V Sehwag, The goggle-eyed Murali smiles. It has taken a long time in coming and what a wicket to take. Virender Sehwag falls after a scintillating innings that will be remembered for a long time. It was a lovely loopy delivery, from round the stumps, dipping in front of Sehwag who reaches out and ends up scooping it straight back to Murali. Murali doesn't take it cleanly, the ball pops out, but he holds his nerves to collect it on the rebound. A champion entertainer walks back to a standing ovation.. 458/2 122.4 to VVS Laxman, Murali strikes. Done in the flight. Laxman rushed down the track and went for the lofted shot over wide midwicket but ended up slicing it off the outer edge behind the bowler. Mid-on moved to his left to collect that.. 591/5 128.2 to Harbhajan Singh, It was flighted outside leg stump and Harbhajan went for the reverse sweep but only managed to get a bottom-edge. Fatal. Third wicket for Muralitharan.. 615/7 144.6 to Z Khan, Zaheer goes for the big lofted hit to long-on and Kulasekara back-pedaled from deepish mid-on position to take a good catch, arching back over his shoulder .. Wicket no 4 for Murali. 647/8

8.5 to TM Dilshan, Oh dear ... Harper has given it lbw. Dilshan didn't offer a shot again and took it on the pad and it did look risky but the ball was missing the stumps. It landed on a length around the off stump, hit him high and it was spinning, and as Hawk eye shows it was easily missing the leg stump. He had done it (padded-up) twice in the last over of Harbhajan but this time it has proved fatal. Two bad decisions for him in this game. But why why would such a wonderful strokeplayer keep padding up. Oh dear, he is gone now and Sri Lanka's task has become tougher.. 29/1 100.4 to M Muralidaran, There you go. India move up to No 1. It was flighted outside off stump, Murali went for a big slog and edged it to Dhoni who grabbed it neatly, threw the ball high in the air and pulled out a stump for a souvenir.. 309/10
23 | 4 | 84 | 2 | 3.65 | 97 | 10 | 1 | 0 | 0 | |
60.5 to AD Mathews, Ojha too joins in the fun and Sri Lanka slip further into abyss.. It was a lovely delivery spinning away with bounce, Angelo should perhaps have not chased as it was around the off stump and turning away but he lunged across to defend and got a thin edge. Neatly taken by Dhoni.. 144/5 75.3 to HAPW Jayawardene, Absolutely plumb. It landed on a length on the middle stump line, straightened, Prasanna pushed well outside the line and he was struck right in front of the middle stump. Prasanna was looking good but he is gone now, leaving Sangakkara in danger of being left stranded.. 208/6
21 | 5 | 72 | 5 | 3.42 | 102 | 15 | 0 | 0 | 1 | |
53.4 to DPMD Jayawardene, First Sreesanth, now Zaheer. The seamers have pushed India ahead in style. This one landed on a length around off and tailed away, Mahela, who can be a bit iffy around his off-stump when he is new to the crease, pushes out at it. Edge and gone. India on the ascent. Sangakkara stands alone.. 135/3 57.6 to TT Samaraweera, Done in by the lifting delivery and a very fine catch from Lax at second slip. It was banged in short from round the stumps, coming in from just outside off stump, a surprised Samaraweera stabbed it low to the left of Laxman who swoops down to take a sharp chance. The camera zooms to a grim Sangakkara who stares down the pitch.. 137/4 93.3 to KC Sangakkara, India close in. Sangakkara falls in the first over. It's a length delivery that cuts away late, the perfect legcutter, and Sangakkara pushes at it and gets a thin edge. Three more wickets to go.. 278/7 97.1 to HMRKB Herath, dug in short, Herath went for a weak pull, it got big on him and made contact with top half of the bat and lobbed towards midwicket where Ojha dived forward to take a good catch. 282/8 99.5 to KMDN Kulasekara, Five-for for Zaheer khan. Very similar to the Samaraweera dismissal. It was the lifting delivery from round the stumps, Kulasekara stabs it straight to Laxman at second slip.. 307/9
13 | 4 | 36 | 1 | 2.76 | 66 | 5 | 0 | 1 | 2 | |
45.3 to NT Paranavitana, plumb in front. Lovely delivery from Sreesanth. It landed on a length on the middle and off line, shaped in late, Paranavitana was in a tangle with his front-foot movement, had pressed it too far across, tries to remove it from the line and get the bat around but too late. Thud. Gone. Fighting innnings comes to an end.. 119/2
