0.6 to KL Rahul, wide of the crease, full and seams back in sharply from outside off, 143.5kph Rahul inches forward, plays around his front pad and is pinned in front of middle. This is plumber than the Mario brothers, but Rahul instead goes for the review. This is missing off and leg, and crashing into middle. That was how plumb it was. 3/1
15 | 1 | 61 | 0 | 4.06 | 65 | 9 | 1 | 0 | 2 | |
20 | 0 | 93 | 2 | 4.65 | 72 | 14 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
42.6 to CA Pujara, pokes at a length ball half-heartedly and Pujara won't get a hundred in his home ground this time. Plays it far away from the body when he could've well left it alone. What was he looking to do, really? I'm not sure. So much risk for a deflection behind point? Only managed to feather an edge and Lewis has his first Test wicket.. 209/2 123.4 to V Kohli, gone.. Kohli's chipped a catch to mid-on. A length ball outside off, well outside his reach. Kohli doesn't really make an effort to get behind the line and just reaches out for it. The bat face closes as he makes contact and it harmlessly lobs towards mid-on. 534/6

50.2 to PP Shaw, tame end to a knock that promised much more. Tried to punch this through cover but the ball stopped on him and resulted in Shaw simply chipping this straight back to Bishoo. Because he gave it a lot of revs, the ball turned just a little extra. West Indies have two wickets in the session now with tea just two minutes away. . 232/3 108.1 to RR Pant, oh, dear. He's sliced this googly to short third man in trying to biff this over midwicket. He's thrown it away here. Generously tossed up by Bishoo, Pant couldn't resist temptation to mow this, but didn't get anywhere near the pitch of the ball and ended up lobbing a simple catch. He's disappointed but has he entertained or what? A chance for a second century goes just like that . 470/5 128.1 to R Ashwin, nicely done by Bishoo. Sharp, sharp turn, but it's the length here that's got Ashwin. Landed it on that in-between length, leaving Ashwin neither coming forward nor hanging back solidly. Just feebly pokes at it and gets an edge that settles into the gloves of Dowrich, who takes a good catch from close to the stumps. 545/7 136.5 to Kuldeep Yadav, shuffles across but this one's slid in sharply and turns in even more sharply to pin him in front. Moved across a fair bit and so it was well in line with the stumps. Hitting middle, in fact. 571/8
26 | 1 | 137 | 1 | 5.26 | 89 | 14 | 4 | 0 | 0 | |
83.3 to AM Rahane, has he got an edge? Yes he has! Or that's what the umpire thinks anyway. Rahane says no when Kohli asks. It's been reviewed. This ball was skidding away from him as he was looking to cut...there's a spike as it passes the toe of the bat. He got too far leg side of that to middle it. Another review that'll need explaining in the Indian dressing room.. 337/4
13.5 | 1 | 47 | 1 | 3.39 | 46 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
143.6 to UT Yadav, swings wildly at a wide length ball and shovels it flat and straight to long-off. End of a very entertaining stand. 626/9 |

2.2 to KC Brathwaite, this is a cracker of a delivery from Shami! The off-pole takes a walk and it has to do with a number of deliveries he kept taking away. Brathwaite plays for one that moves away but this one hits the seam and jags back in to sneak through the gap, hit the pad and crash into the stumps. The third umpire has a look at a number of replays and gives it in favour of the bowler. . 2/1 4.1 to KOA Powell, going too far across and he's gone. Shami has struck from around the wicket and is on fire. Middle and leg visible at the point of impact. On a Rajkot track where it's hard to get it bounce, those can never be overturned. Powell, apart from playing a poor shot, has also burnt a review KL Rahul style. 7/2
11 | 3 | 20 | 1 | 1.81 | 55 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
38.4 to KMA Paul, gets him with the bouncer! Keemo has not been comfortable against Umesh, who has been changing it up in what has been an incisive 10-ball spell. This bouncer climbs at the chest and Keemo slices the pull off the high part of the bat. It lobs up for midwicket who dives forward and holds on. 147/7
11 | 2 | 37 | 4 | 3.36 | 48 | 5 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
9.2 to SD Hope, beauty. This one drifts in and skids through to clip top of off as Hope plays inside the line to be beaten. This is terrific from Ashwin. Hope played for turn when there was none here. The ball hit the stumps and deflected towards Pant's face. Initially, the reaction from everyone suggested this missed the stumps.. 21/3 43.2 to RL Chase, what a ball! Oh that is vicious from Ashwin. A dipping, drifting, flighted ball outside off stump lulls Chase into a loose shot. Looks to drive on the up, against the turn with a massive gap between bat and pad. This is a proper set up, because Chase has barely been made to stretch outside off against spin. Gets an inside edge and it's into the stumps. 159/8 43.5 to SH Lewis, takes it away from middle and hits off stump. Runs his fingers through this like a legcutter and it's on a length at middle stump. Lewis goes on the back foot to defend for the offbreak, but this has ripped away quickly to clean him up. He doesn't know what's happened, stares blankly at the non-striker. 159/9 47.6 to ST Gabriel, sent upstairs for the stumping. It looks out. A good stumping. Nervous gather from Pant, but his hands are quick after he has the ball. Gabriel has lifted his back leg after Ashwin spins one away from a full length on off stump.. 181/10
7 | 1 | 22 | 1 | 3.14 | 31 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
16.1 to SW Ambris, and Jadeja's back at it. Ambris attempts an extravagant shot through the off side and edges to the cordon for his troubles. Nicely looped up outside off, full but just enough time to start turning as Ambris reaches out swinging extravagantly and sends a catch flying to first slip. 49/5
10 | 1 | 62 | 1 | 6.20 | 37 | 9 | 2 | 0 | 0 | |
25.2 to SO Dowrich, he's thoroughly been outfoxed here. Kuldeep invitingly tosses this one up, Dowrich falls for the bait and comes forward. Jams the bat down but it lands outside off and turns back in super sharply to sneak underneath the bat and tip the bails off. 74/6 |

7.6 to KC Brathwaite, bunts it straight to short leg. That's soft. No extra bounce, no bat-pad, no inside edge. It's a length ball on off, spinning into leg stump and he pushes it straight to Shaw, who barely has to move as he takes this. A strange sequence leading into that wicket. Seemed to have lost all composure. 32/1 43.6 to D Bishoo, there may have been some noise as Bishoo looked to sweep this with the angle. Pant did well to get across to his right and catch. Was there some glove? Yes, replays confirm there was glove on it, so India have reviewed and they get it right. Bishoo is gone and that's tea . 185/8

18.6 to SD Hope, pinned in front by a sharp turning delivery that was pitched up. Hope thought of a review and decided against it. The only good thing is he didn't waste it after complete misjudgment. He not only played back when he should've been forward but also played down the wrong line. This would've smashed middle and leg.. 79/2 22.1 to SO Hetmyer, is he really their most promising batsman? That's a terrible, terrible shot to play. What was the need? I don't know. Did they need 20 runs in two overs? No. The situation demanded he bat, bat and bat. Instead, he looks for an ugly slog and slices it to short third man. The turn does him in as he looks to slog across the line, the dip ensures the ball takes the edge. Catches like those won't be dropped most times. This is terrible batting from West Indies and as a coach, Stuart Law, even if he is going to resign after this series, has every right to ask for accountability. Very, very poor. Kuldeep trusted himself to deceive the batsman in flight, kept at it and has now been rewarded with two wickets.. 97/3 22.4 to SW Ambris, there's the googly, the magic ball. Ambris has absolutely no clue as he steps out aimlessly. Pant is alert, he picked the googly, didn't grab at the ball, rode the bounce and then effected a smart stumping. It nearly touched Pant's helmet as he was surprised by the bounce, but he did well. Could this end by tea? Very much a possibility. This I'm afraid isn't Test match batting.. 97/4 29.3 to RL Chase, tosses it up way outside off, inducing the drive and Chase falls for the bait. Chips it straight to Ashwin at extra cover. Kuldeep has a wry smile because this was a tossed-up half-volley. Not sure he expected a wicket off that delivery, easy catch. Fourth for Kuldeep. 138/5 35.4 to KOA Powell, fifth wicket for Kuldeep and it's a smart catch by Prithvi Shaw at silly point. Pushed it quicker through the air, got it to break off the surface. Powell stabs at this and gets it on the top part of the bat as it lobs to Shaw, who grabs this in front of his face. Maiden five-for in Tests . 151/6

40.4 to KMA Paul, not struck cleanly and this is a simple catch to long-off. Why would you play that when there's a man for protection at long-off? Not sure. If this isn't a brain fade, I don't know what is. West Indies have all the time in the world to do some soul searching.. 172/7 48.6 to SH Lewis, that looks plumb. It's given and they won't review. Full ball on middle stump, he looks to drive into the leg side with the angle. But on this occasion, Jadeja gets it to grip and turn. It's headed towards middle and it is given. 192/9 50.5 to ST Gabriel, taken at long-on! Gabriel looks to go big yet again. This time Jadeja has lobbed it up slower. So he ends up dragging it off the inside half of the bat, out to Kuldeep. India win by an innings and 272 runs. 196/10 |
