10.3 to BJ Bennett, Gets the edge and it flies through to the keeper! Three-quarter length ball with extra bounce off the pitch outside off, extends his arms and reaches for it, plays his favorite square drive shot, no foot movement from Bennett this time, struck the outside edge of the bat and Jaker Ali completes the catch while moving to his right side. Debutant Tanzim gets his first Test Match wicket!. 41/1

18.2 to BJ Curran, and Taijul is into the wicket-taking act straightaway! Shortish outside off and this grips in the surface to spin back. Curran shapes for the square cut/back-foot punch through cover but the spin does for him. Not as much room to work with as he would have liked and all he manages is an inside edge that cannons into leg stump. Curran is disappointed, and he should be, having not capitalized on another start. Taijul will probably bowl better balls than these in his life, but he will not mind this wicket one bit!. 72/2 56.3 to NR Welch, oh my goodness - that is an ugly hoick across the line and Welch loses his off stump! Another arm-ball, pitching on a length just outside off and coming in with the arm. Welch gets down on one knee and looks to smash it into the Bay of Bengal. Only swats away a few flies and hears the death rattle soon after. Yet another five-wicket-haul for Taijul - his 16th in Test cricket - and Zimbabwe are staring down the barrel now!. 162/2 78.1 to W Madhevere, what a ripper, and Madhevere bites the dust! Fizzed in full on a fullish length on middle and leg. The ball drifts in and then bites off the surface, ragging away sharply. Madhevere plays the original line and can do nothing as the ball kisses the outside edge and lodges into the keeper's gloves, albeit after a slight bobble. What a ball, and what a moment in this game, given the resistance Madhevere showed in Sylhet!. 200/5 80.4 to WP Masakadza, massive appeal, and the umpire's finger goes up in a trice! Pushed in on a length on middle and off. Masakadza plays the trajectory and stays back. Gets rushed on his stroke and gets pinned on the knee roll of the front pad, right in front. Seemed pretty adjacent but Masakadza wants to have another look. No bat involved. Ball Tracking comes up now...and it reckons the ball would have thundered into leg stump. Umpire Richard Illingworth's decision vindicated and Zimbabwe are now six down!. 206/6 80.5 to R Ngarava, knocks him over first ball! Taijul is on fire and Zimbabwe have no answers! Pushed in on a length just outside off. Ngarava lunges at it and plays for the turn but guess what, there isn't any. The ball goes on with the arm, without really spinning back, and breezes past the outside edge to crash into off stump. Ngarava walks back, shadow-practicing his defence, but the damage has already been done!. 206/7 84.6 to NR Welch, oh my goodness - that is an ugly hoick across the line and Welch loses his off stump! 217/9 90.1 to B Muzarabani, Slower through the air short of a length ball turning away sharply outside off, Muzarabani plays the half-hearted dab stroke and the ball goes past the outside edge of the bat, loud appeal turned down by the umpire. Shanto opts to send it upstairs. Ultra Edge appears after sometime, and the Bangladesh players celebrate! There's the spike as the ball passes the bat with extra turn and bounce. And that's the end of Zimbabwe's innings.. 227/10

67.3 to CR Ervine, Nicked and gone! The dot balls were piling up and Ervine wanted to increase the run rate. Length ball pitching around the seventh stump line, makes room outside leg and goes for the square cut stroke, kept a bit low on the pitch and kisses the inside edge of the bat, Jaker Ali collects it behind the stumps and throws it in the air with excitement!. 177/3 69.2 to SC Williams, Catch it is the call, and taken by the debutant Tanzim at widish fine leg! Flatter length ball sliding down the leg-side, goes down on one knee and plays the paddle sweep, failed to keep it down on the ground, struck aerially to the left of the fine leg fielder, Tanzim swiftly went to his left side, placing both hands behind the ball to grasp it. Great catch by the fielder!. 178/4

31.3 to Anamul Haque, massive lbw shout, and the finger goes up! Muzarabani has a reward for his persistence, but hang on, Anamul wants to have another look! Slanted in on a back of a length on off. On pitching, though, the ball straightens just a shade. Anamul, caught on the crease, also gets squared up and seems to play down the wrong line, with the ball rapping him on the back leg. The only question here is the impact (and whether it was outside off), and if it was too high. No bat involved. All eyes on Ball Tracking and...it returns with Umpire's Call on Impact, with the ball then crashing into off stump, two-thirds of the way up. Umpire Illingworth's decision vindicated, and Anamul has to go!. 118/1

53.6 to Mominul Haque, Another teasing tossed up delivery and this time Mominul bites the dust! Full and overpitched flighted ball on the stumps, Mominul premeditates the slog sweep shot and goes underneath, full swing of the bat and only managed to sky it high towards deep mid wicket with the top edge of the bat, Curran comes forward sprinting in and gobbles it up with the reverse cup technique.. 194/2

70.4 to Najmul Hossain Shanto, soft, soft dismissal and Masekesa, on Test debut, has taken down the Bangladesh captain! Flighted up beautifully just outside off and the ball drops on Shanto late. Spins back into him, apart from sticking in the surface a touch and all Shanto can do is pop it straight to Welch at short mid wicket. Massive, massive moment for the 28-year-old, and Shanto falls after another promising start!. 259/4 74.2 to Jaker Ali, Caught and bowled! Flighted fuller length ball on the leg stump line, slight deviation turning in, Jaker Ali strides forward and attempts to play across the line, closes the face of the bat early and finds the leading edge, chips it straight back to the bowler, Masekesa, makes no mistake and completes the catch.. 267/5 82.6 to Nayeem Hasan, Masekesa strikes again! You can't keep the debutant spinner out of the game! Lovely flighted delivery on the fourth stump line with slight turn away from the batter, Nayeem defends off the front foot, plays inside the line of the ball, thick outside edge and finds the safe hands of Williams at second slip, who moves to his right side and completes the catch.. 279/7 96.5 to Taijul Islam, Beaten by the flight and Taijul has to depart! Slower through the air flighted ball, wrong-un pitching outside off, Taijul charges down the track and misses the line of the ball, tried to play through the covers, lost his balance as he attempted to get back to the crease, easy pickings for Tsiga behind the stumps, breaks the stumps and the debutant spinner gets his fourth wicket!. 342/8

54.1 to Shadman Islam, Massive appeal for some time and the finger goes up! Generously flighted good length ball on the stumps, Shadman strides forward and attempts to play across the line to the on-side, beaten by the flight and rapped up in front of the stumps, thuds the bottom part of the front pad. Shadman has a quick chat with the skipper, decides to head back to the dressing room. A superb, well-composed innings has come to an end.. 194/3 |
