Good length ball just outside off, leaned back, pushed gently to long-on and nonchalantly jogs through a run
Los Angeles vs Washington, 11th Match at Morrisville, MLC, Jul 14 2024 - Match Result
Washington won by 8 wickets (with 24 balls remaining)
Hope you enjoyed our coverage. Don't go far away, as the second game of the double-header between TSK and MI NY will start shortly. Time for me to hit the sack. Thank you for your company as always. This is Rvel Zahid, signing off on behalf of K Vairavan
Glenn Maxwell, Player of the Match: We're fortunate with the conditions and Saurabh picking wickets at top. It was nice to get some help from the wicket. There was little bit of spin, little bit of inconsistency. It was a good day and nice to go at the top as well. I'm absolutely loving not having to bat; great to give my body a bit of rest. Smudge (Steve Smith) is doing a great job as a leader and opener, very fortunate to have him.
Clinical win by Washington Freedom with four overs to spare and they'll remain unbeaten and comfortably secured at the top of the points table. This resounding win will give a massive boost to their net run rate. It was a brilliant all-round performance with both ball and bat. The bowlers hit the right areas as LAKR's batters played quite a few unwise shots and, as a result, were bundled out for 129. In reply, Head and Smith broke the back of the chase with their blazing strokeplay. The openers have been consistent for WSF, which is making life easy for the middle order. WSF have seven points on the board while Knight Riders drop down to No.5 with three points. Saurabh Netravalkar just knows how to pick wickets; he pegged them back with two vital scalps in the powerplay and finished with another couple of wickets towards the end. Hands down, WSF's spinners bowled much better than their opponents as Maxwell applied the squeeze with his wily spinning methods. WSF needed one stable partnership to track this untaxing total down, and the Aussie duo didn't disappoint. They stitched one solid partnership at the top and thus made light work of the chase, capping off another win. They are the side to beat in this tournament.
Tossed up, wicket-to-wicket stuff, punched back to Shakib's left
More flight and lands it fuller on off, allows it to turn and then drills it straight as an arrow, bisecting long-on and long-off for a four, scores are level
Zips it quicker on leg, flicked using his fluid wrists to midwicket and is content to settle for a run
Goes on with the arm and he tucks it to midwicket
Round the wicket, dropped short outside off, makes room and slaps it to sweeper cover
Good length at middle and leg, stays deep and nuzzles it to short midwicket
Once again too straight, fuller on the pads, hits it leisurely along the floor to the right of deep midwicket
Again erring on the leg side, shortish and the pads, helped to deep fine
Good length, angling into middle and leg, picks it magnificent off the pads and sends it soaring away to midwicket boundary, got punished
Bowls an absolute jaffa that climbs off the deck from back of a length and nibbled away in the corridor, top delivery
Goes for a bumper, didn't look that short but given as a wide
Over the wicket, length on middle, nudged to short midwicket
Googly on off, blocked to cover-point
Tossed on middle, guides it with the spin towards square of midwicket
One slip in place. Bit full and sliding across off, looks to open up and go over cover, it was a carrom bowl which was picked early and panned to the rope
Floated up fuller and angled in from outside off, easy-looking square drive
Tossed fuller outside leg stump, keeper does well to save some extras
Slightly short and more width, sliced to short third
Over the wicket, length and turning away from off, punched to cover
